A settlement isn't necessarily an absence of justice. As the name implies, it is something that both parties agreed to.

Plus the article says:

"None of the three has been criminally charged, but the state's Attorney-General Daniel Cameron, is expected to bring the case before a grand jury this week, according to local media reports."

I don't understand your feelings on this or your comment, could you elaborate?
That a whole bunch of people might get away with killing someone. Not just the three officers but the people who asked them to go in there.

Paying money doesn't solve problems. I definitely doesnt lead me to believe that they will follow through with 'no-knock' reforms. Or, you know, checking adresses

I mean this was probably the best outcome we could hope for. Police rarely get charged, and you'll never get a conviction, and even if the pigs align and stars fly you'll set a new appeals record for quickest kick in the ass. No mayor or Governor wants to have a officer go to jail under their administration - try explaining that to the police unions next time you ask for donations for re-election.
Breonna Taylor's family was never going to get justice. The best they could have hoped for is a check for what the government figured her life was worth.

I presume if they burn the police precinct down they might get a good deal more than this “best they can hope for.”

I mean, governors/mayors get to have it both ways then. They can pretend to support police during this outcome but if a precinct is burnt down, they can throw their hands up to the union and say, ’ the people have spoken’.

Politicians have an easier time pushing through bills without proper scrutiny if there is an emergency

Sadly, I don't think so. They would have to take the judge who issued the illegal warrant and much of the department down. They would have to challenge the probale cause for the warrant which could put thousands other warrants in jeopardy. That isn't going to happen no matter what they burn down so. In this case they are saying " it was a problem with the law, so the officers are not responsible" even though they went in recklessly and blindly shooting and were fired for that reason. It is good they changed the law, but it is not good the people who did this are walking.

Precisely why there’s more praxis in precinct burning than voting.

The courts would never go after the probable cause for the warrant because it will put many/ most their other probable cause for warrants in jeopardy. Even it being a BS probable cause for the warrant, the courts will never rule that way.

Years of lawsuits against these fuckers does nothing. LASD has had an issue of its deputies forming white supremacist gangs since the 70’s. They’ve been getting sued over it since the early 90’s if not earlier. They have more cop gangs now than before. A guy who lost his job and was part of a major suit thirty years ago for being in said cop gangs was a local politician in suburban California until 2016 when he was arrested. We can have as many settled cases as we want, cops won’t move an inch over them.

It's a fancy word Marxists like to pull out to show how many books they've read.

Definition of praxis

1: ACTION, PRACTICE: such as
a: exercise or practice of an art, science, or skill
b: customary practice or conduct
2: practical application of a theory

I've literally only ever seen Marxists use it, it was probably a favorite word of a late 19th century communist economic theorist.

Very easy for the Police Force to agree to, since it's to be paid by the city rather than them.
Was the family suing the police, or the city? Legally speaking, are they the same? I don't know the answer to these questions.
