Not only were they not at war, they are essentially allies. Have been for years.

The truth is that Trump's foreign policy almost resulted in a war with Iran. And there's still time until November. Not to mention that both Israel and Saudi Arabia would be thrilled. And Trump already believes that starting a war is a guaranteed way to win the election, so don't discount the possibility of him trying that again.
