No dude. That's a campaign promise. That's him saying if the dems are in charge then he can guarantee that the cheques go out. If the dems aren't then his hands may be tied. A politician saying vote for me and I'll do x isn't a bribe/blackmail because if they're not elected they can do dick all.

Like 300 million for the NHS wasn't a bribe.
Well no, for that to be remotely like a bribe they’d have to actually pay that £300 million.

Yeah but I have to use an example from the right. Just because they never deliver on their promises doesn't mean it isn't the same premise, a campaign promise.

They both aren't communist. Communism has no governments. NK and China fail at the first test and just pretend they are communist
Should seem pretty obvious to people that a state with a supreme leader who rules by birthright is not an egalitarian one. Then again I've met very few people who aren't communist who've read a single word of communist philosophy beyond what people who hate communism have to say about it.

There are indeed some brands of communism that state either that communism should not have gouvernment or that communism will eventually make gouvernment superflous. But as always, it gets complicated.

There are also some brands of anarchism that support capitalism. Inherently misunderstanding the stated goal of anarchism.

It would only be bribery if money actually changed hands. As of right now no one has been paid to vote. This is more of a promise, and one that can (and most likely will) be broken.
I can't wait to see what The Democrats excuses are when they still don't pass $2,000.

My money is on "Trump made our deficit too high". Gotta milk blaming Trump for all your problems as long as you possibly can.

That's anarchism. How on earth could anyone expect communism to even begin to work without a central government?
It's also communism. Marx believed the state was a tool the bourgeoisie used to control people.

"The interference of the state power in social relations becomes superfluous in one sphere after another, and then ceases of itself. The government of persons is replaced by the administration of things and the direction of the processes of production. The state is not "abolished", it withers away."

-Engels

One point of contention is that Communists often believe that we need the state to drive society towards statelessness but that ultimately there should be no government. Anarchists don't believe that the state is the best way to get rid of the state because... like duh.

Again, if communism is the belief that there should be a classless society how do you reckon a ruling class fits in to that?

Hence why communism sucks. It cannot be done without getting rid of the old systems in place but can't do that without an organization but by having that organization it fails to achieve its goals.

To be fair, a lot of communist regimes did try to avoid buildong new ruling classes. With mixed results as regularly getting rid of/annoying all your administraters does not make for good gouvernance.

But many eastern block countries were far closer to classless society than everything we have now.

Gouvernment is not the same as state and neither are the same as a ruling class.

Isn't this precisely what right-wing nutjobs say every damn time a group of opposing politicians try to help their struggling citizens? It is! It is what they say every damn time. 🙄🙄🙄

Right, but that's Marxism, a specific form of communism (as well as the surrounding theories of how society will/should get there). Communism as an ideology also existed apart from Marx, and had been formulated and described by other thinkers before he and Engels did so in the Communist Manifesto.

He did not invent Communism; he formulated one theory of it, which then went on to hold great sway over the European and Asian Communist movements. But other formulations existed, and not all involve an abolition of government.
