My Bad Date With a PS3

What a dull read. Journalist has trouble with their internet connection and manages to stretch that into an entire article?

Is it age, or production quality?

You were a kid. Everything seems more exciting when you're a kid. I'm sure you can think of lots of films that seemed fantastic when you watched them as a child that are actually pretty terrible. You are also using selective memory: taking the best games of the past 20 years and comparing...

Is it age, or production quality?

How is fast travelling lazy? Are there actually people who don't use fast travel in Oblivion? The dungeons in Oblivion are boring enough, slow-travelling everywhere would be mind-numbing.

    Careful What You Wish For

Indeed, surveys like that are not to be trusted. To start with, who did they ask? Was it just stopping random people in the street? Phone poll? I know I never answer those things, so I would bet there is a bias inherent in the results. Also, I assume by average they are talking about the...

    Careful What You Wish For

The hardcore will always have a greater impact on the industry than their numbers would indicate purely through their buying power, I think. The average lifetime attach rate for the PS2 is 8-9 games, IIRC. From a quick survey recently on a gaming blog recently hardcore gamers often have 30+...

    Zero Punctuation: Webcomics

There were references to CAD apart from the miscarriage thing: the wand tipped with an XBox controller was one of the more obscure ones.

    Zero Punctuation: Webcomics

    People still read CAD? Scary.

GTA IV - Was anyone disappointed?

Exactly the thing that annoyed me. It's more like Mario 64 in structure than an open world game: you can choose which mission to do next, but the mission themselves are completely scripted. For example - in most chase missions it's impossible to destroy the vehicle you're chasing before it...

Zero Punctuation: The World Ends With You

Great review, sums up most of the genre's problems pretty well. The strategy guide thing bugs me too, no idea what kind of idiot would actually want to buy a strategy guide for a JRPG. I'd guess that's wrought iron, not rod

    Zero Punctuation: Painkiller

Anybody else find the video doesn't load at all in Safari 3.1.1? Latest flash player installed etc, but all I get is a grey box where the video player should be. Works fine in Camino, though.

Syphilis and CCGs: Magic: The Gathering's Shadowmoor Expansion

I quit sometime after Homelands came out (from Wikipedia that was 13 years ago, now I feel old). Red/Blue direct damage/control was my favourite deck, it was very satisfying building up for a huge fireball with an Iceberg while stealing, countering or Jokalhaups-ing everything else.

Zero Punctuation: God of War: Chains of Olympus

My feelings exactly about PSP games, it seems pointless releasing action games requiring the analogue nub on it. For example - Ratchet and Clank:Size Matters wasn't a bad game, but on the PSP I found it so uncomfortable to play I traded it in almost immediately.

    Wiimorse

The Wii hasn't lived up to the hype, but that's to be expected given how massive the hype was. I'm glad I bought mine. It's had some great games IMHO (Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Strikers) and plenty of decent games (Excite Truck, Elebits, Battalion Wars, RE4)...

    Zero Punctuation: Super Mario Galaxy

3 complaints I don't understand about SMG: - "You get so many lives". Yes, they have basically taken the concept of lives out of the game, it's irrelevant these days anyway. - "It's hard to figure out what's going on when you go upside down/sideways". Of course it is, that's the point...

    Your Thoughts: Nintendo

Did you get that one from the "Nintendo Troll Post Archive" or do you really believe it? If you really believe it, I pity you.
