So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

Unfortunately, the Euro is looking pretty weak right now, what with Greece and such. If the US defaults, it could mean serious damage to the EU. The world's favourite currency also cannot be the Chinese Renminbi, because the Chinese government fixes their currency to be worth some constant...

So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

Well, the real issue is that once you earn enough money to really be considered super-rich, it's cheaper to hire a team of lawyers and accountants than to actually pay your tax. Maybe the ideal situation would include a tax break for small business owners, and a new tax bracket for people...

So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

The tax on the >200k group can indeed hurt small business, but it's irresponsible to let the executive board of Goldman Sachs and such only pay as much as they do (~40%) when the US Government itself is dangerously close to default. Although, they may just use one of the many loopholes in the...

So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

Look at this link [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S._presidential_terms#Gross_federal_debt]. Notice that under Regan, the debt went up by 20% of GDP? And before him, it had been steadily going down since 1945, almost unbroken? Yeah. Regan did a fine job with the economy.

So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

It's not the fault of the US people, but rather their system. The system of "Campaign donations" lets big business (especially the arms industry) buy out politicians on both sides, and make ending the wars and increasing taxes on the rich (i.e. the people who can afford campaign donations)...

So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

You have the right idea, but especially so on the military budget. The Iraq and Afghanistan wars have cost around $1.2 trillion total, which would be a comfortable gap between the debt ceiling and actual debt.

So if the USA defaults August 2nd, what will happen?

Well, the US. Govt will have to cut spending if they default, to pay back their debts. This will cause damage to the economy by reducing Aggregate Demand. Aggregate demand is the measure of how much demand these is in the market (i.e. people, business and such buying stuff). When Aggregate...

Kinect Only Costs $56 to Make

I don't think that the army wrote gesture recognition code, or would ever consider building a sensor that spams IR (the same frequency as their nightvision equipment detects) in random directions.

Kinect Only Costs $56 to Make

By "The tech already exists" do you mean that someone had already drawn up a circuit diagram, patented, programmed and built a working prototype of the Kinect before microsoft decided to go make it? Because unless microsoft just bought a licence to produce a few million kinects from someone...

Kinect Only Costs $56 to Make

Years of labor by skilled workers = Not cheap Also, you can't just use someone else's code like that. Not for something as specific as firmware for a new piece of technology that you just designed.

In-Game Attack Costs EVE Player $1200

There are stealthy ships (covert ops, stealth bombers, recon cruisers and black ops) but they're quite difficult to get and use effectively. Covert ops frigates are pretty much just used to scan down other ships, and they have no firepower (they can move faster than light while cloaked, though)...

U.S. Air Force Wants Soldiers to Be Like Batman

In bold is what I think is wrom with your post. In Italics is the blatant trolling in your post. First of all, the army is not "protecting the corporate interests of the elite". They're following orders from the American government. You will not find a halliburton executive on the other end...

U.S. Air Force Wants Soldiers to Be Like Batman

You do realise that the air force is actively trying to reduce the number of civillians killed, right? They're not some kind of evil force of puppy-murderers who sit down behind the controls of a UAV thinking "Man, I'd really like to blow up some innocents today" (that would be Blackwater, but...

U.S. Air Force Wants Soldiers to Be Like Batman

There is only a finite pool of men avaliable for combat, and given the ridiculous budget of the US military, they can afford to spend a small fortune on each soldier (think about the cost of a single javelin missile - $40,000 per shot). Plus, after they've made all of the high-tech prototype...
