The Big Picture: PC Gaming Is Dead - Long Live PC Gaming!

The workstation setup (desk, multiple monitors etc..) will not go away any time soon. It will become less common but will not die. -Because it will stay the cheapest way to get maximum bang-for-buck of computer horsepower. -Because it is the most luxurious way to work.

    Unskippable: Epic Mickey

Basically the same way they do shoulders, fingers, levers, etc... Every serious computer graphics design suite offers you some way to attach stuff to each other with constraints. Just as they would connect an arm to the upper body, they connected the ears to Mickeys head and the camera.

Escape to the Movies: The Expendables

Wow, almost a 1000 posts. Keep it up guys. Maybe we can break the forum if we go over 1024 or something ;)

Ubisoft ditches their idiotic DRM for their next PC title.

Great to hear. There is at least one perfectly working crack for AC2, proving that the experiment failed. Better to go with something generally accepted (Steam) then continue to try to piss everybody off in new and inventive ways.

Gaming is truly a waste of time

Gaming can; - Increase your finger dexterity and improve your hand/eye coordination. No explanation needed I assume. - Improve your ability of abstract thought and orientation. Modern big-budget games are usually by far the most complicated 'things' people have to deal with. Get some...

PCGA: Twice as many "Gaming" PCs sold than consoles combined in 2009

If I go to my local computer shop the every desktop offering (except the ultra-chap bare-butt-minimum choice) has a discrete Radeon or a GeForce. On the other hand there are quite some laptop gamers. Laptops don't have discrete graphics. Counting discrete graphics card to determine gaming...

    Nippon Ichi Developing Girl-Spanking RPG

Hehe, thanks for that mental image. Gotta love game developers like this. Openly perverted and proud of it.....

    Should Facebook Be Worried?

Google has been running experiments that involve advanced web browser gaming (check out WebGL if you are curious), so yeah, they might set up a compelling game platform. The assumption that Google automatically dominates everything is ridiculous though. Google has/had social experiments that...

Saints Row 3: What do you want to see?

If they keep the thing non-serious and keep/expand all the insane side missions (with the rewards), I'm sold. A better PC port would indeed be a big plus as well.

    On RTS Games

Cool idea, Yahtzee. I just think that for this to work the allegiance of the free agents must be unchangeable. That way the free agents are at worst just useless to the general on their team (no friendly fire). If you would allow the agents to swap sides, then playing as the general is...

    Do you have unreasonable standards.

Yes. I guess the more games you have played, the more spoiled you become. You wish all the good parts of all games could be somehow united in one game. -Gameplay has to be smooth. -The radar/waypoint/pathfinding stuff has to be near perfect. -All player mistakes must be fixable or...

Things in gaming you have never been able to forgive.

What EA did with Westwood and their C&C games. I'd say that the C&C games were better then what Blizzard has to offer before EA stepped in... After EA got hold of C&C however.... No, I can't even describe it.....

That online moment that you were so proud of

Not online but on a LAN playing Quake3. I got tripple kill with one railgun shot in a 4 player deathmatch. When I figured out what happened I felt like a God for a second. I didn't win the game but that couldn't ruin my day.
