I'm running Windows XP at the moment. Mostly because I can't afford Windows 7 right now. I got a chance to try out 7 for a while though and I definitely found it better than XP. Never had any problems with it. I'm fine with both but I'd probably prefer 7.

I second this. I think my mother 100%'ed PvZ by now. She doesn't play much else though. Alternatively you could try something like Prince of Persia (4... I think). The controls could be a bit hard but the game never really punishes you with a big GAME OVER, YOU LOSE/HAVE DIED etc. screen.
