I would argue that he's referring to yearly Sequels like Madden or CoD. If you play multiplayer, a majority of the online crowd will migrate to the next game and you "have to" in order to stay current. All it takes is one of your friends to upgrade -_-.

Plot is huge to me. Good controls are a plus, but graphics I can do without. Anybody who still plays FF7 can attest to this. It all depends on the genre really, I guess. An RPG with no storyline is garbage, whereas a shooter with horrible controls is as well.

As far as TV goes, I would have to give my vote to Death Note and Code Geass, hands down. Where video games are concerned, FFX. The only soundtrack I've even considered buying.

I know it's been said before, but Tales of Symphonia was an amazing game. Try that one out...however, if you are willing to go way back to the PS1 days, there's also Legend of Dragoon. LoD will keep you occupied for quite a while.
