I don't really have a favorite genre, although you can't go wrong with shounen. Anything with a storyline.

The absolutely crack driven ones, like Ouran High School Host Club or Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, we just don't have that level of insanity on TV over here XD
Well its Sci-fi for me. I'm a huge fan of Ghost in The Shell and Ergo Proxy
But I do like some of their comedy ones like Exel Saga

My top 2 anime at Cardcaptor Sakura and Ouran High School Host Club, so whatever subgenre those fall into.
I also back Death Note and Higashi no Eden as excellent shows, when I want something not so cartoonish (if there is such a thing, probably not the best word)

I'm not sure, one's that are at least semi-serious but burst out into stupidity like, half way through or during certain parts of the show. Clannad, Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Zoids are a perfect example of these.
Though I don't really watch anime all that much, I prefer to read it as manga.
