Cyberpunk 2077. THE HYPE TRAIN HAS LEFT THE STATION!

There's more to it. As the ecological world dies (by means of outcomes of industrial capitalism) machines become more and more important, as they are less reliant on the natural world for survival. So what will happen (in the real world) assuming that we avoid a more sudden demise by nuclear...

Cyberpunk 2077. THE HYPE TRAIN HAS LEFT THE STATION!

Well, the whole "everyone's poor" is countered by murder and theft, in the sense that corpses are no longer considered poor and their wealth is redistributed to those still alive. The trailer shows a lot of violence, but it does seem like the populace is fairly happy about it - the violence...

So the recent controversy about Channel Awesome mismanagement

That's an extremely minor difference. It's like the people who watch tabloid news and then say "I don't care about this celebrity stuff!" They're still watching - differences in *attitude* of people watching the same thing (like "ironic" versus "sincere" attitudes) are minor, virtually...

Please help an old and starving gamer

I don't see the best Deus Ex game on that list, the original. Undertale is the best of the new-wave Meta RPGs. Morrowind is a must play. Heroes of Might and Magic III is the best game of that type and better than King's Bounty imo for that kind of thing.

I don't understand why Let's Plays have become so popular - Can someone explain it?

The Twitch audience likes that stuff. The Tobuscus/Sodapoppin/PewDiePie style of high-energy douchery is popular. Popularity breeds imitation, which creates culture. Dignity doesn't pay the rent, popularity does, or as CaptainSparklez might note, can pay for a mansion.

Upcoming games of 2018 you are looking forward to?

I agree with one thing about what you're saying - both sides didn't listen. The GGers didn't listen because a one-way distribution of their message was the point - Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Richard Spencer... distributing a message (propaganda) is their purpose, not listening. The...

Upcoming games of 2018 you are looking forward to?

To be fair, game content has changed drastically in a progressive direction in recent years, just as the playerbase has become more inclusive in terms of class, gender, and race. We're a long way from the old days of rigid, set-in-stone game genres with narrow scope. To give you an idea, once...

    It's not ALWAYS "toxic," right?

The word "toxic" used to describe rudeness on the internet is amazing in-and-of-itself. This is the same word used to describe radioactive nuclear waste, or deadly poison. It's part of a long-term cultural project by the "manners police" to combat internet rudeness, so what's happened is that...

Should bro dudes get into sci fi and fantasy?

The OP seems to be using the term "broaden one's horizons" as a euphemism for "becoming a better person", with the implication that "bro dudes" are a disease and perhaps sci fi and fantasy could be part of a cure. I don't think that self-hating (or being influenced by the hatred or...

Ghost in the Shell is "international" story

http://nextshark.com/fan-bingbing-highest-paid-actress-instagram/ While Asia is a huge market and there are various Asian capital centers that produce movies with their own highly paid actors, Hollywood has *it's own* highly paid actors. Scarlett Johansson is part of the Hollywood system, not...

David Cage and Quantic Dream Return to E3 with Detroit: Become Human

Even as far back as 1987 we knew that Detroit was screwed, hence Robocop being set in Detroit. Deindustrialization and plutocracy destroyed the city. The old vision of machine/metal technology (automobiles, steel) at the *service* of human beings became the dystopian nightmare of a merger of...

Is the "Open World" approach killing RPGs? And will it ever stop?

Any design element not clearly better than alternatives which dominates the big-budget industry necessarily reduces the creativity of that industry. Anathema to creativity is "We have to make our game X way" without first asking if that's the right decision for the game at hand. So the...

Which is the Best Animated Series?

My favorites are The Venture Brothers, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Archer, Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, South Park, and Superjail!. Animation is so much better these days than in the past - I grew up in the 1980s and even as a young kid I couldn't stand the garbage "cartoons"...

Anyone else finally getting sick of the unrelenting grimdarkness of GoT?

It's not as simple as you're indicating. Once something becomes popular enough, it pervades the culture and can't be avoided, and then as a matter of cultural intelligence one *needs* to watch the source material to understand the culture itself (ones friends, family, and acquaintances). Most...
