It attracts hatred because of two things.
People feel it was overhyped (Even though, I have to admit, it was a great game) as the second coming in game form- which, it wasn't! It was good, and the first ever time I saw co-op, so it was inventive- but not solid gold.

THANK you, Fenixhart. I played halo 1-3, gears 1-2, and killzone 2- but I also play ratchet and clank, the many sims games (Shuttup, they're addicting) Armored Cores (Various) and such- I don't think that makes me a 'meathead gamer.' I wouldn't go so far as to say that Gears is the best game...
Sadly, though while being a gentleman is polite, it's -technically- being sexist as you are not treating both genders exactly equally.
Devils' advocate bullshit aside, being a gentleman is, in my opinion, something every guy should strive to be.
I highly disagree. I'd rather play a side-scroller game from the eighties with a fantastic story than a game with gameplay so balanced and well designed that it'd make a 360 or PS3 just weep that's got NO story.
So, random one. Which d'you prefer- can be in any genre, or anything- turn based or realtime combat?
Personally, I can't stand Turns on anything but gameboys, but that's me!
