195: String Theory: The Illusion of Videogame Interactivity

It was clever because it was new, unheard of. If/when it becomes commonplace, it will cease do deceive, making the game worse for it. Then again, it was not all that new, was it? Didn't anyone here play Wing Commander? Only WG wasn't all that forgiving.

    Zero Punctuation: Prince of Persia

I'm not american, thank you, and I like to hear the voices as they are supposed to be. Listening to english-accented voices is hipocrisy. When you play The Witcher, do you use polish voices, or english?

    189: A Nation of Pirates

Not true. Sure, there are many people who pirate because of lack of income, but my gamer co-workers paid over US$500~US$1000 for each console (Wii, PS3 and 360), own big LCD or Plasma screens, have, coincidentally, and all recently purchased their own apartments -- for over US$50,000.00. I could...

    189: A Nation of Pirates

I disagree with the premise that piracy eliminated the legal market. What happened as a matter of fact is that Sony never entered the Brazilian market and Nintendo ceased to be the main dog (for a while). I'm not even sure if NES was actually distributed by Nintendo. When the Atari 2600...

Games For Boys, Games For Girls

Individual persons always vary, but... Anyway, I'd like to point out that most men wouldn't even notice the shoes changed.

Good point. I hate Link! :-)

Games For Boys, Games For Girls

I disagree with almost everything here. First, I think the premise that the last Tomb Raider failed to reach it's targets because of any problem with the game is foolish. It failed to reach it's target because it faced insane competition. If it had been launched at the same time last year, it...

    Zero Punctuation: Prince of Persia

I don't get this argument. In fact, I abhor this argument. If he is from Persia, then he should speak Farsi, not Farsi-accented English. Now, if learning Farsi to understand PoP is too much trouble to go for (and, for me, it is), then plain, unaccented English is fine.

    176: Woman, Mother, Space Marine

Good article overall, but it sucked at interpreting Starship Troopers, and even more at Heinlein. Heinlein liked to write books about societies which worked differently from ours. In ST he explored many things, but as far as society goes, the idea was exploring the concept of a society where...

The Witcher, Enhanced Edition first impressions...

Well, the weather models are then obviously based on my city. :-)

    Who doesn't like football?

Frankly, if you described sex the same way you describe football, it wouldn't seem to be any fun either. And the fact is that our brain is just as wired to like sports events (or other types of competition if you have a bias against sports) as it is wired to like sex.
