I downloaded it yesterday. All together it was a massive 2gb patch so I was expecting a lot. I haven't played it so much that I can give a full review but my first impressions were a bit mixed.

From the short amount I played I could already tell the biggest improvement is in the dialogues which actually make more sense now. In the original version the story was hard to follow sometimes because so much was lost in translation. Some of the actual voice acting is still a bit dodgy though and some actors sound like they would rather be doing something else. But I guess that's to be expected if a title has so much spoken word in it.

Graphically the changes are more subtle. I noticed the sky textures changed and the colors overall are a bit brighter now. They tried to give the npc's more variety by generating different colored clothes. It is still amazing how many old women with one tooth and fat blokes with a bell round their neck are walking around in the game though, albeit they all wear different colored pants now.

The weather models are changed as well. But unfortunately it still feels broken. The problem is not that the effects look off or something like that, it is just strange that the weather changes when you move from one part of the game to another. It's very bizarre too be walking under a cloudless blue sky in one part of a city only to find that behind a gate to another part of the city people are running for shelter from an epic thunderstorm.

Gameplay wise I notice some small tweaks and fixes. The inventory screen is more manageable and it is easier to see what ingredients for potions you are carrying. I think they rebalanced some of the enemies as well but I realy haven't played enough to give an opinion on that.

Overall I would recommend people who already have the game and want to give it a replay to download the patch. The improved translation makes it worth it alone. I would not recommend buying the boxed version though (costs around 40? i think). If you haven't got a copy yet just get the normal version and download the patch for free.

What?! Still broken? Hmmmm- well, the EE is (I think) the same price as the original version, so one might as well get that and save a ton of time downloading...

Any combat improvements?

I noticed some small tweaks in the difficulty but I really can't say a lot about it as I haven't played enough of it. Will post an update later perhaps.

I bought my version a couple of weeks ago for 15? so I recon you could safe some money buy downloading the patch.I would recommend downloading the torrent of the patch at this point (can be found on the official forums. The official download site is very slow (got 1.5kb/sec from them :s ). But the torrents works just as well, the language packs can be found at gamershell and softpedia. It took me about an hour to download the lot. The actual installation took about 45 minutes.

My first impression: Failed to install because i haven't registered my copy at their completely nonfunctional website. Second time i'm forced to pirate a game already legaly own in order to get a free expansion pack working.

I played with it last week. I can tell you that the combat is smoother, but also more unforgiving. So if you suck at timing, it'll be harder... but if it was easy for you before, it's a breeze now. This last time through chapter 1 I had no trouble with the climactic end battle.

Dialogue is much easier to understand and more fluid. The separate sections for loot and alchemy is way easier along with the sort keys. I haven't tried the added missions, but they are completely separate from the main game. You can also use subtitles or speech in about 9 different languages. The EE as a software package comes with a lot of neat extras as well: Making of DVD, Soundtrack CD, Music Inspired From the Game CD, and a map of the game area.

My roommate and I have been playing it most of this past weekend (off of steam). We had a lot of fun, although there's a nasty crash to desktop bug.

After playing it for an hour or two, eventually the map will stop showing lines (will only show location points). And without fail, the game will either freeze up or crash to desktop within the next 20 minutes. Usually during a save/load. So we've taken to quick saving every few minutes. Also, when loading the game up after a crash, the mouse will not work in the menus before the first game is loaded. But we are able to select a previous saved game halfway down the list. So we have to load an old save, and then load a current save after.

We're almost at the end of act 3 now, I just hope there's some form of stability patch soon. :(

Also, I love the music in this game, I wish the Steam version came with the soundtrack somewhere. Another oddity with the Steam version - it gives you a CD key, but as far as I can tell there's no place to enter it in the game. Everything still works fine though.

Seeing the price for the "regular" enhanced edition being practically the same price as the regular edition only with goodies, then buying the regular and patching sounds redundant.

Hey this Enhanced edition sounds awesome I think I'll install the patch. Whoops! It looks like Atari has forgotten to include a cd key in MOST CANDIAN COPIES OF THE GAME! What larks! Look like I'll be waiting for Atari customer support to send me a new cd key! In 9-10 working days! Joy!

It's shit like this that makes defending pc gaming a pain in the shitter.

Edit: Just found the version I've bought is censored to cap it all off. Fuck this. I'm taking it back.

The game doesn't require the cdkey to run but does require you to register online before you can install the update. That hasn't been cracked yet.

I'll be impressed if it does. Well...I guess you're stuck waiting another week or two...or never.

I'd suggest something else but it would get me a ban/probation cuz I can't talk about that stuff.

I like it! So much so, I'm renaming my left buttcheek Gerald. But anyway the load times are super fast compared to what they were before on my system. It has an atmosphere which I think games now sometimes lack.

Enough people who played the game told me Yahtzee pretty much got the review right that I never bothered to buy it.

I'm surprised how many people take both sides. I guess people just can't prove whether Yahtzee is wrong or right...though, maybe that's the wonderful world of opinions for you.

Is there an "enhanced edition demo"? Like, basically the first demo that doesn't have all that "bad stuff" from the first one?
