    Max Payne 3: Thoughts?

I only watched the cutscenes on youtube, so I can't comment on the gameplay. Having played the first 2 in the series, I decided about 6 months before release that this wasn't going to be a game that I'd play. Not because I thought it looked bad, but I'm just done with the series. I thought...

Poll: Who do you co-op with?

A friend and I played the crap out of resident evil 5. I don't care much for online matchmaking, even in a co-op mode, so it's local all the way. Except for Journey, that was pretty awesome. Of course, now I live in South Korea, so I have no co-op partner. I brought my DS and a PS2 that I...

If a second American Revolution where to happen....

Read the graphic novel series DMZ. The premise is a 2nd contemporary American civil war, in which the rebel faction seizes much of the country. New York city is the demilitarized zone, acting as a buffer between the forces. It's pretty fun to read, even if a few parts are cliche.

Game Stores Selling Opened Games as "New"

This seems to be generating a clash of diametrically opposite viewpoints, with a surprising amount of vitriol. OT: I'm not a big fan of the gutting practice, so I stopped buying games from chain stores, and largely shop online. I have (had) a bigger problem with a retailer providing a...

    Do you read comic books?

I still read them, but completely in trade paperback form. Have all bound volumes of 100 Bullets. Still waiting for amazon to deliver the last volume of DMZ, and the most recent Walking Dead. I can't claim I was with Walking Dead from the beginning, but I got into it about a year before the...

Could you turn the subtitles on, please?

If subtitles are on by default, I usually leave them on. Otherwise, I won't bother to turn them on unless I can't hear or understand the dialog at a reasonable volume. I really hate having to crank the volume up in the quiet scenes, because then the noisy scenes shatter my windows. (dramatization)

The best value game you have bought?

Probably Persona 4. It was $40 USD, and so far I've done about 85 hours. Haven't done new game+ yet, and the persona compendium isn't complete. Did a pretty good job of maxing the attribute stats in 1 playthrough. I think only 2 of them are incomplete, at 1 notch below max.

Poll: Would you stop tipping if they made minimum wage?

It would depend on the level of service. I work in retail and earn minimum wage. Nobody ever tips me. Perhaps one day my Bachelor's degree will be worth more than a coaster. Probably not.

What Ruins a Game For You?

Online Multiplayer. I'm terrible at it, and I don't want to interact with other players online. Achievements and trophies are usually tied to it, and I don't want to spend time grinding in an uncomfortable setting for those (arguably) meaningless rewards. If only I weren't so obsessive...

    Collector's Editions

I have the RE5 one, against my wishes. I wanted to get the game, but the only new copy the shop had was the collectors edition. It was the same price as the regular one, but came in a metal case. Unfortunately, that was the only cool-ish thing about it. The other stuff that came with it...

The death of the fix-it-yourself generation

I wish I had your optimism. I'm afraid (as in, me personally) that not enough people have the willpower (or intelligence) to embrace the power of technology that would enable them to better serve themselves. Allow me to explain with an example. I work in a sporting goods shop that also sells...

Yet another game suggestion thread (PS1)

Although I DO generally like JRPG's, Dragoon is a fantastic game. It's so badass, it has its' own inventory menu music.

Games for a Video Game Storytelling Class?

Today I Die. I don't think anybody said that yet. It's a free (flash?) game, and only takes a few minutes to play. It has darkish themes, but ends up having an encouraging and positive message. Also, there are at least 2 endings. I enthusiastically recommend it. Come on, it's free.

How to Manipulate Gamers for Science

I fear that the application and potential for evil are very high, but I suppose that is true of most things. Plus I'm fairly pessimistic.

Heavy Rain Creator Shows Off New Game Engine With Short Film

That was a little horrifying, and kind of cool. I loved Heavy Rain, but it had considerable flaws. Crazy plot, frequently sub par voice acting, and weird controls to name a few. But this was emotive and perhaps even powerfully disturbing. Maybe David Cage should stick to movies.
