It wasn't hairy, so that's why I thought it was more like a beetle. That is a cool looking bee though! I ended up giving it a home in a nice tree. I'm sure the thing didn't want to be poked and prodded and stuff.

I found this "blue bee" looking thing. It had mandibles and pollinators (with pollen on it!) It looked more like a beetle than a bee because of the mandibles. It didn't have a stinger.
