I actually like them, but I don't actively go looking to achieve them either. I just play and let them 'flow'. Chances are if you end up playing a certain game for a substantial amount of time you're going to pick up quite a lot anyway, especially stuff like "Kill X amount of mutant squids" etc.

A combination of the hills and death being around every corner, I know the place is supposed to be in complete turmoil but sheesh.. At the start of the game when you are being driven to the hotel, the guy stops at the checkpoint and pretty much talks his way through. I wished I could do this...

Oh yeah that reminds me, I've tried it on compatibility for Win 95. Edit : Sorry for the late addition.

So I decided I wanted to at least try the originals after playing 3. I installed Fallout last night and got it running, the graphics, controls and everything else work fine, the sound however... I can hear the in game music and environment noise but no SFX. No gunshots, no melee attacks...

So is it the general consensus that I should just upgrade my card and everything will be peachy?

Damn, just checked. My card is an X1650 SE :( My resolution is 1440 x 900, if I run it any lower than that it looks odd. (Widescreen monitor)

It may well be what you mention, I haven't checked in a long time as I've only been using my PC for downloading lately...mainly stick to using my laptop for surfing etc. downstairs.. I will check and clear that up.

Oh and for a little extra info, I'm planning on playing Fallout 3 so I'll need to be able to run that to a decent degree.

Last year I purchased a new rig with Vista already pre-installed. The last game I played PC-wise was Oblivion. (I preferred the PC version, complete with Mods etc.) I loaded the game up on my new Vista rig and found it ran like total crap, this also seems to be the case with most new-ish...
