/gasp Relic has been hitting all home runs with their RTS games. Homeworld 3 would be icing on my cake.

I think that people play instruments for the same reason that they play games, personal enjoyment or accomplishment. I, for one, am insulted whenever anyone tells me how to pursue personal enjoyment. Especially when it comes from people with the talent pool of Nickelback, which is to say "not much".

I was reading the article and thinking the exact same thing. If the developer lets me invest just as much time, money, and energy into the experience that I want, I greatly admire them. On another point, I can't recall how many games hooked me into the story, but I just didn't have the energy...

I wouldn't worry too much about this. For one it would be a serious invitation to have some very losable lawsuits filed against you. Also, this is not the first time a questionable EA forum mod shoots off his/her mouth without all the facts.

I'm kinda missing the Final Fantasy or the Ultima series. Maybe I'm too young to remember the really "classic" games (never had an Atari), but I cut my gaming teeth on those two wonderful series.

I'm not sure that you can tell a consumer that their console disables them, they simply don't care. I would also ask that if WoW looked like Everquest 1, would 8mm+ people still play it? Maybe I'm off-base there, but I don't think I would.

I agree, it's hard to look at the sheer marketing power of EA and then say it's a bad thing. There are lots of instances of companies making big-bucks from distributing other company's products.

I love how they don't force "in-character" role-playing on you, but I wonder how many other players are going to selfishly whine about the "breaking of reality"?
