Funny, I just finished Welcome to the NHK as well. I liked the character of Satou because he's almost believable. I'm no hikki, but I can relate to and justify most of the stuff he does. Yamazaki is also a pretty good character. Don't know why anyone would cry though.

'decimate' is undergoing evolution. Go and read a news article or a book and see how they use the word. The old definition is dying slowly.
