More stuff in the areas to do. More stuff to do does not equal more dialogue, See Bioware/Bethesda verbal diarreah. Getting Quests over the radio for example is a better alternative then asking every Russky about their dead dog before you get to pick up their tin of baked beans. Also having npc's say "hey over here i got a job for you" just have all of them do it. Just 1 person through a whole game with 100 quests is pointless, then you could just highlight them with a yellow ! imo.

There were big open areas in stalker but little or no content in them.

More open science and factory complexes, not a Generic cramped hallway shooter with chesthigh walls with auto crouchto, i hate those!

Lots more different monsters, but the old ones just updated to. NOT A STUPID HL1 sequel where they cut all the monsters cept headcrabs OMG.

Less random generated nonesense, more scripted good cool happenings.

Much more varied and scaling weaponry. Start with a combat knife scale with pistols, shotgun, then smg, then assaultrifles, end up with the Gauss gun etc to ensure full appreciation of weaponry.

More weapon slots, atleast let us choose between 2-3 rifles in quickslots, just 1 is just BORING! Realism can take a hike, hiding your surpluss assault rifles in a "backpack" seems stupid in any "real" situation anyways.

A more friendly weight system or just scratch the weight system and just go for 1 inventory "box" allowed for items or somth.

The best things in stalker are scripted events. But lately you haven't even got to play those parts. Just the open area running around with barely anything other then zombies 2 kill. What i want is more like hmm Call of pripyat tunnels? Sneak through a Bloodsucker base?

Less recycled enviroments "Cough" alpha build map of stalker 1 in COP expansion! Sience bunker seems identical to eachother? hmhmhmhmh lazy?

Less running around for every side and main quest, stuff needs to happen, keep the quests closer to eachother or just scratch them and have more mainlined quests that center in a area, not random ones dotted around with just lots of travel time, Luckily they did have quicktravel for quests in COP ye.

Having to explore to tediousness in every small crevass of the world for plot items etc is NOT fun, make the placing of important items of the game more obvious. Like for example armors. In Stalker it was not easy finding any armor, it was damn near ludicrous at times.

Oh and real crouch and lie down, Not Im lying down 1,5 meters from the ground with a really huge stomach, see Yahtzee's ClearSky review.

If they made these changes i would bow down and praise stalker 2 as the next messiah.

Well, CoP already had the sleep function...so lemme think.

I'd like:

-Better friendly AI, first and foremost.
-More refined stealth mechanics (which is to say, ones that actually work)
-Additional artifact and anomaly types
-More Fallout-style non-plot-relevant dungeons
-A greater number of sidequests
-Increased Monolith presence
-And maybe some kind of RDR-style trapping/skinning/selling mechanic. That'd be pretty nifty.

NPC's fight simulating from Clear Sky was great, they would go into cover and blindfire etc. It felt really cool. In Call of Pripyat they just ran at you or strafed constantly left and right... it was weird. Also, 360 which I'm sure has been confirmed anyway.

I'd like to see the stuff that worked great in SoC merged with all the new additions in CoP. If they can streamline the engine and find a middle ground between the linearity of SoC and the open worldness of CoP then I'm already happy.

As long as I can still take out mercs silently with my Vintorez, or go shotty first into a dark mutant filled lab then I'm a happy boy.

I'd like to see stealth done a little better. I know that me shotting will alert almost everyone nearby, but that doesn't mean they should know exactly where I am all of a sudden.

The difficulty is perfect. If I wanted my hand held through an entire game I'd play BioShock again.

pretty much everything first post said aside from the powerarmor bit. Though i'd like for them to add more usefulness to pistols and shotguns since by the end of the game you usually just carry 2 different rifles.

Also I want them to bring back the map system of SoC, the Call of pripyat one was too much like Fallout's open ended bore a thon with too little human settlements intersparsed between monster nests. I really liked SoC's map system since you actually had to TRAVEL from one map to the next then have some NPC teleport you from one to the other, which really ruins the immersion.

Sure that can be more immersive, but it can also be a huge pain in the ass to walk from one end to another....I mean run of course. Since by a couple hours in the game I usually have a couple endurance artifacts so I can deal with the annoyance of having to hoof it everywhere.

Running 30 miles an hour across 4 maps is also an immersion ruining experience. It makes perfect sense that you can tag along with other NPCs, or pay them to escort you somewhere.

A neat idea is that fast travel can be interrupted, at random, by an encounter with baddies (mutants, Monolith, etc) much like the random encounters when traveling in fallout 2.

I really just want them to ship the game relatively bug free and unbroken, and maybe include a coherent plot this time.
Everything else can't be considered a wish, because I know for a fact they'll nail the atmosphere and graphics.
Not buggy: Cop
Coherent Plot: Soc, CS, and CoP

Just because there is little to no exposition does not mean that there isn't a strong narrative. They just assume that you can think for yourself and don't need to be told what is going on right in front of your face.

-Edit-

Also, more guns please. Do you expect me to believe that there aren't 10 million Mosin-Nagants laying around? REALLY?

What i think is great for a shooter is the variation of enemies, weapons to use, and Big enviorments that arent cramped. Those are the things i think stalker gets right, which i believe any respectful shooter should have. Farcry had alot of open areas for example and not cramped chest highwall hallways, something that made it very popular at the time.

Updated my suggestions

I'll be honest and say I haven't read all the posts here yet ( but I will ), but I posted my wishlist in a thread on this same subject a while ago:
What I want from Stalker 2:
-Same inventory system as CoP, I thought it was the best one of all STALKERS. Same with the upgrade system.
-Get some lipsync modelers please. All that UBERGODBUMPMAPPING with AMAZING PARALLAX and whatever isn't going to stop me from seeing the failing facial expressions.
-A physics engine like Half Life 2? The Zone feels extremely static now, would be nice if we could move some more doors or fences.
- No cars or vehicles
-Big maps filled with content, ala SoC
-Make the travel distance to a safe spot longer. In CoP, every map had a safe spot somewhere (Laundromat, Yanov Station, Skadovsk), while in SoC there were a couple of maps without any real safe spots (Wild Territory, Dark Valley, Forest, Pripyat to name a few).
-Make the zone a little more occupied than in CoP, it was just _to_ empty for me.
-Make quests like CoP. I like how well they were worked out compared to 'Get 10 wolf tails' quests as in SoC. On the other hand, SoC had more quests. Perhaps a fusion of those two would be best ?
-Don't fucking rush anything and finish it at the right time. Stalker SoC could've been way more awesome if you didn't cut 99% :(

Some of my thoughts."

I wonder how it would be possible to port this to consoles. There's so much stuff to, well, stuff in. You have your grenade launcher, hunting knife, hand grenades, sidearm/slot 1, main weapon/slot 2, interact, quick bandage, quick medkit, PDA, change firing mode, change ammo type, crouch, sprint, low-crouch, flashlight, night vision, etc.

They could also hire the guy from STALKER Complete. That guy's mods are pretty good-looking.

I recently tried a realism mod that increased weapon damage/accuracy mod (y'know, so shooting someone in the torso five times will actually kill him) and I found the game much easier, save the odd shotgun to the gut while going around a corner. I think the current ballistics and weapon damage system can stay.

Oh, and before anyone names it, yes - female NPCs were confirmed.
You forgot the GROZA and the ABAKAN and the Vintorez and the VAL and the striker.
Oh yeah. The Groza and Val/Vintorez are pretty good. The AN94 didn't feel like a big improvement over the AKM-74, maybe it was just me. After the third shot the thing's recoil takes over in a really bad way. I was kinda put off by the Groza because it's so massive it takes up the entire right side of my screen with a scope. I should try it again. Maybe CoP's Groza will be better with the thermal scope.

I've only played Call of Pripyat (So good!), but honestly aside from improved visuals (think Absolute Texture and Nature high res mods + AtmosFear) they should basically add the kind of stuff a lot of mods added. Smarter AI, the ability to recruit crew, tiredness/sleeping required. More zones, more missions, more anomalies, more armor/suits, better sound effects... Oh, more enemy types.

Basically as awesome as CoP was, there's a lot of room for improvement.

A 360 port, regenerating health, and decent controls. Also maybe some decent graphics and multiplayer.

Yeah I said it.

I've been wanting to check out CoP, because I have heard that about it. My worries are with a new engine, I just don't want to see it go back to the release state of SoC.
As for the plot, don't get me wrong, I love the details in the world and all that, but you have to admit the dialogue and texts are pretty nonsensical most of the time. I'm aware this is a translation thing, but that's what I'm talking about: better language localization.

I totally agree with Starrman.
The Zone was a scary and lonely place once and I´d also like to see that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
provides the same amount of tension as the original did. But how to achieve that?
First of all resize the profile of the flashlight - in CoP it is filling my whole damned screen, making me feel like walking in bright daylight. In addition: make it worth using the circle of electric light again. What I´m saying is that in CoP (we don´t need to talk about CS since it doesn´t feel like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at all) are way to few scary dark places. Most of the time you spend walking over ground - and hell "total" darkness is exsists only 4 hours a day. The player wasn´t forced to deal with zombies in the dark then, but that´s what creates all the tension in the first game: forcing you to enter a dark, cold lab with a few(!) mutants where your only advantage is the bullet in your gun barrel.
These places weren´t crowded with mutants and they did´t need to be, which leads me to the secound point I expect to be improved in the next game: soundeffects. The acustics in SoC were GREAT, take a look at this: [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AM2AmqZZMs ]
At 0:47 I jumped a little even though I wasn´t playing - THIS is what scares the shit out of
the player: the expectation of someting lethal emerging any secound and from any direction.
In conclusion blood-freezer number one: SCRIPTED soundeffects hand in hand with awesome general background sound (dripping water, moaning doors/carriers, etc).
Third and last nostalgic point: loneliness.
Speaking of CoP again. Hell it was cowded - felt like a crazy theme park (patrols)(no offense though you tried something and Pripyat was still great). In my opinion the Zone is not the place for a focus on faction warfare. It is dangerous and making a living is hard enough. I´d rater expect its inhabitants of different thinking to avoid situations of confrontation (unless something similar to the "warehouse-thing" in CoP happens).
Ok I admit it I forgot something, I also want to see cutscenes again (no need to mention a solid story) but that´s all about the nostalgia.
Seriously, I meant this as an advice so let this go through your mind GSC.

NOW to the topic
my actual wishlist: -keep the hidingplacesystem of CoP (no need to find data before looting)
-ad random dead bodies (trashloot)
-keep the ability to repair and attach things to guns but kill the
upgradesystem (it distracts from the important things)
-ad unique guns instead (don´t imbalance it)
-ad an upgradesystem for bullets of different purposes
[humans(hollow point)/armored humans(full metal jacket)/mutants
(hp/fmj/substances that are deadly for mutants - maybe some
sort of anti-rad/etc.)
-weapons aren´t breaking down constantly but unprompted (after an
specific amount of bullets, but prone parts can be changed in
advance)
-ad weapon cleaning (animations) - the grade of cleanliness sould be
proportional to the functionality (jamming/accuracy)
-make mutant fights deadlier (meaning: they´ll kill you quick but in
return they don´t eat what feels like 100 bullets to the head)
[providing right ammo and standart assaultrifle calibre a bloodsucker
should drop dead with 2 bullets to the head]
{make tiny mutants faster, ad abilities to the ones that can´t use their
speed as an advantage: bloodsuckers in CoP were cool (approaching
sounds, invisibility -> balance)
maybe ad knockdowns(->stomps on you and kills you with one attack on
hardmode) or knockbacks for big ones and infections for others}
-take out burers or make them less lame (easier to kill with a knife than
an assaultrifle -> wtf moment -> not cool, neither frightening)
-let all equipment be available from the beginning but make it impossible
to obtain and entertain it with the money you earn in the beginning
-make the "making-money-thing" a REAL pain in the arse and ammo goods of
luxury (not because noone sells it but because you rarely find it and
it`s kind of expensive)
-close the gaps of damage between weapons of a kind (the type of ammo
should dictate the biggest part of damage (accuracy is another topic)
-improve stealth
(-ad a bolt action sniper rifle - maybe an old m24 - seriously I love
bolt action rifles :p )

thank you for reading through this

I got Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat, but I have yet to play Call of Pripyat and I've heard good things about it compared to the other STALKER games. Anyone care to tell me what I'm in for?

Well, like I mentioned before, it has a lot more people and a lot more colour. Think of it as Autumn in the Zone, orange, gold and yellow cover a lot of the landscape. As to the gameplay it's a drastic improvement on CS, but it lacks the original bleakness of SoC. The story is a bit weak and the ending is poor, but overall it's playable. I'd give it a 75% next to CS 60% and SoC %90 (but I'm a serious SoC fan. Really serious. Seriously. Serious.)

Play it, you'll enjoy it, it's far from terrible.
