Maybe Dante's Inferno was just setting up for a Monkey Island 2-esque twist, where it turns out Yahtzee's theory is right, but then it gets ret-conned in favor of more sequels.
It was awesome, and it had more laughs than could be counted. There was the occasional incredibly bizarre section that was hilarious if you thought about it. The characters were all quite funny, and Yahtzee conveys his humor and wit.
The only problem I have with the authorization thing is the logic behind needing authorization for the Varia and Gravity Suits. The characterization is fine. In fact, it seems like a good way to get an interesting story out of Metroid. In the previous Metroids, there hasn't been people for her...
