I'd say Cid from the Final Fantasy series. Always there, always coming back in every game, rarely in harm's way, and everyone knows your name.

I was reading down the thread and was like 'Where's the love for Totodile?' He's gotta be my favorite, since I always lean towards water-types anyway. Besides, he evolves into Feraligatr, which is like a cross between an alligator and Godzilla. Can't beat that. On an unrelated note...

Mine had to be that damn swinging point in the climb to Shinra Tower in Final Fantasy 7. That climb up the rubble to reach the plate above, y'know? I was stuck at that friggin thing for HOURS. No matter what I tried, I still missed the stupid swinging thing repeatedly. Seriously frustrating.
