Fat shaming vs. necessary dialouge on obesity

One huge problem in all of this is that, over the years, we have been fed a lot of really shitty and sometimes counterproductive dietary advice. We've been told that low-fat/cholesterol is good for you and that losing weight is as simple as "calories in, calories out". Too bad it's more...

[Euphoric] Fedora wearing Thief targeting churches

http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Fedora-Wearing-Thief-Targeting-Churches-90710579.html He also appears to be wearing a Leather jacket and a sonic shirt. This is just too good to be true.

Do you prefer Text or Audio in your RPGs?

Text, if I have to choose one or the other. A few voice stabs like in the old IE games is the optimal approach in my opinion. Once I hear a characters voice for a bit, I can read all of their dialogue with that voice in my head.

    Good Old Reviews: Fallout

Don't forget the no-damage insta-kill crits you can get by hitting the eyes. The Flare build is pretty lulzy.

    Medieval RPG with no magic

Because that definition is so broad it's useless. By that definition every game with some kind of protagonist is a role-playing game. If shooters, platformers, WRPGs, JRPGs, cRPGs, Beat-em ups, RTS, TBS, MMOs, etc. all count as RPGs then the term has no use.

    Stream lined vs. Dumbed Down

You call it interesting and meaningful, I call it stupid. Going back into cover after shooting is not some esoteric exploit, but common fucking sense. If you told a soldier he should keep his ass in the firing line after shooting to make it more interesting, he'd call you a retard. Safety vs...

    Physical vs. Digital

Physical, I like the feeling in control of my games and looking at my collection(unfortunately there isn't much to look at with modern game packaging...). GOG is the only digital service that I use and only for stuff I can't find a physical copy of. Of course, with newer games there's often...

    The Big Picture: Memorium

Yes. Remember that column Shamus wrote about the great video game crash? You should read the comments about it here and on his blog, the crash was well contained within the USA.

    Jimquisition: Lugoscababib Discobiscuits

Errant Signal did a pretty good video highlighting Infinite's flaws. To add my own two cents (spoilers and lots of ranting):

Poll: Rome 2 Total War Excitement!

I'd expect them not to stand around and get shot until my units run out of arrows. Only happens rarely, thankfully. At least they improved the dreadful pathfinding, especially during sieges. (At least in Shogun 2, I haven't played Empire and Napoleon.)

Poll: Rome 2 Total War Excitement!

Not reacting when they're being shot at, for example. Running against my spear wall without attempting any kind of flanking maneuver. Unnecessarily losing soldiers by climbing the walls in a siege instead of using the gates. General diplomatic idiocy, like blockading my port for a single turn...

Poll: Rome 2 Total War Excitement!

I'll hold off until I know if they managed to finally improve the awful AI. The previews I've seen don't fill me with confidence.

Games you have brought or downloaded that you fully regret.

Pirates of the Black Cove I didn't know anything about the game before I bought it and thinking it would be a clone of Sid Meier's: Pirates! with a new coat of paint, maybe slightly changed mechanics. I assumed the developers would take the most obvious route in developing a pirate themed...

    Feudal Japan RPG?

You might want to check out "Seal of Evil" and "Prince of Qin", although they're set in China instead of Japan.
