Neal Hallford discusses possible sequel for Betrayal at Krondor

If you've played Betrayal at Krondor, you're probably familiar with the name of Neal Hallford as chief game designer and writer of that game. There are still rights issues preventing the making of a true BaK sequel (the story was initially envisioned as a two-parter, and Return to Krondor...

What were your favourite DOS games!?

It was released as freeware, but it's the version with the MIDI music only, and at any rate it's a ***** to install. I'd recommend gog.com for anyone looking to purchase it nowadays. Five dollars isn't too much to ask. :P

What were your favourite DOS games!?

There's no reason to stop it at that. If I knew I'd put other people off of ranting about why it rocks, I would've kept my mouth shut and stuck to lurking. :P

Scariest moments in a non-horror game

Aside from the obvious mention of Shalebridge Cradle, one other time I SEVERELY freaked out during Deadly Shadows was at these words: CRUSH AND KILL AND CRUSH AND KILL CANNOT HIDE CANNOT HIDE (and so on) ...First and foremost because those guys really seemed invincible at first impression...

games you love but have one flaw

Assassin's Creed I. Repetitive missions. Oblivion. Voice acting. Thief: Deadly Shadows. Small game world. Betrayal at Krondor. No (real) sequel. :'(

...In other words, what you're doing? :P

Poll: Is Thief: Deadly Shadows worth 5$? (Steam sale)

As a standalone game, it's great, as long as you don't expect an Assassin's Creed style sandbox that lets you sneak around and rob anyone in a huge, huge city (that's what Morrowind is for :D). It's also on a smaller and less detailed scale (talking about the size and dimension of the locations...

Poll: If you lost your memory, which games would you want to replay first.

I want to be able to play Betrayal at Krondor properly. As in, experience it afresh, as an adult with a developed psyche, and be able to react properly to all the twists and details. It kind of sucks a little when your first experience with a game is back when you're a teeny child and unable to...

    WTF NPC Conversations

The conversations you can overhear in the Thief series are always nothing short of hilarious. Particularly when they talk about you, as in Garrett. I can't remember any specific examples at the moment, though...

    2D games with excellent writing

The adventure games, generally. Monkey Island, Quest for Glory, King's Quest. Also, anyone remember Torin's Passage? Amazing and unique game, that.

    Poll: Oblivion Class Question

I dislike keeping track of spells and being squishy, so I always play a custom thiefy class with light armour, acrobatics, athletics, lockpicking and of course stealth and marksman, and then invest in alchemy, repairing items and restoration as non-class skills. Taking the stealthy approach...

A Game with the Most Replay Value

Betrayal at Krondor has massive replay value because of the sandbox world and all the content and all the multiple approaches and the fact that different things are experienced differently depending on when and with what characters you do them and are mutually exclusive. I know of people who've...

What game(s) do you consider art?

Okay, I've held back this long, but dammit, I can't not mention Betrayal at Krondor. Any game that can make you care for its characters so much deserves at least an honourable mention.

    Scariest moment in a game.

Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3. Just... all of it. Nothing beats picking a door open only to have a freaking twitching zombie with cages on its head and limbs swing it open into your face, and then trying to scramble back while crouched while pressing FLASH BOMB FLASH BOMB OH PLEEEASSSE. Other...

What game(s) do you consider art?

+1 for the Assassin's Creed series. Anything that can transport you so bloody accurately into the heart and atmosphere of a time and place hundreds of years ago - complete with lepers and plague doctors and all - is nothing less than a work of art. By the way, here's a Flash game that...
