Hey, I'm having the exact same problem after upgrading to a q9550. (Oblivion ran fine before but now the cursor always freezes after a couple minutes in menus or dialogue instances. Anything where the ingame cursor appears) I tried your fix and even set my computer to boot with 2 and 3 cores...
