Oblivion cursor freeze bug fix

I am posting this here cause I love this place and I really need a place to share this fix so people can find it. I spent five hours this morning trying to find a way to get around this bug and when I ran out of ideas I asked a friend. When I thought he was about to run out of ideas he gave me a gem of a fix that worked.

If you are running the game on a quad core system and you run into this problem, open your task manager, find the oblivion process and right click on it, set the affinities to only three cores and you wont have this problem.

Hey, I'm having the exact same problem after upgrading to a q9550. (Oblivion ran fine before but now the cursor always freezes after a couple minutes in menus or dialogue instances. Anything where the ingame cursor appears)

I tried your fix and even set my computer to boot with 2 and 3 cores but I'm still experiencing the problem. I might try reformatting to see if that works. Are you sure there aren't any other steps involved in fixing this? I've tried the unofficial patch and official patches but they don't seem to work either.

I'm guessing this is just a bug Bethesda has yet to discover and/or fix...

That seems to actually be a rare bug, because its not listed in any of the wikis
