    What Minecraft Is Missing

I agree with some others on the blue dye thing. It could be Notch's Wyrm Online past showing through. From memory blue and purple dyes were some of the hardest to extract and fix in any usuable form (regardless of how common it is in nature). That's why they're the colours often assocated...

    Zero Punctuation: Fear 2

That was just plain great. I have nothing more to add.

The Escapist Show: Episode Two: Vicious Cycle & Eat Lead

Well, there's no accounting for taste (mine, I guess). But indeed, no aspersions cast on the skills of Mr Dorsch. Bitching about ZPs music is a little old hat too, I suppose. Maybe if it was funkier, like that piece in the show. I can dream.

The Escapist Show: Episode Two: Vicious Cycle & Eat Lead

Good show. Movie reviewer hates Transformers = many extra marks from me, but it was still a good show otherwise. What's the gag, though? Yahtzee can get you in anywhere but zeropunctuation doesn't get music anywhere near as cool as the Escapist Show.

159: Fragging in the (Un)Lucky Country

I'm a good example of how Australia's cable is laid out. I lived in a large suburban centre and got ADSL 2 for a while and it was good (if we ignore that by downloading the trial for After Effects CS3 I used a third of my monthly quota in 20 minutes. I can live with that). I move about two...

Zero Punctuation: Alone in the Dark

Re: theme music. No, I don't think I'll ever get used to it. In my mind the musical accompaniment is something like the theme tune to Shaun of the Dead ('The Blue Wrath' by I, Monster if you're curious) and other jaunty weirdness of that sort. Like others, I am a little surprised The Escapist...

158: Piracy and the Underground Economy

Good article and thread. A lot of stuff it's good to hear being said lately. I'd also love to hear more from Erin about what the industry really thinks about it (the wider industry besides Stardock and the Darwinia guys who do actually talk about it). It's a fascinating subject if only...

    Zero Punctuation: LEGO Indy

Yes, this is exactly the description I was looking for. That or when South Park took the piss out of long running shows rocking up their theme music and intros for new series' in a similar way. Sorry Yahtzee and crew; even if you would have done it this way from the start if you could, the...

    Zero Punctuation: LEGO Indy

That one was very funny, but what's with the new bookends music? I dunno if you folks have run into some licensing trouble with the music clips or Yahtzee can't be arsed picking them anymore (I haven't read), but snarky English humour and backwards-baseball-cap Californian guitar goes together...

    Zero Punctuation: Haze

Heh. I think this might be the first time most of the other reviews of a game I've read seemed harsher than zeropunctuation! It was almost positive in contrast to some. (not that I mind or anything)

142: The Myth of the Media Myth

As noted, you can't really explain this through any cultural/political split like Harv Smith did. It is (video game violence effects), in my experience, the one thing that all sides tend to agree on. I wrote a sociology project on my local Quake and Quake 2 deathmatch scene. This was new...

    de-rez: News

One word of advice; Microphone! Your ever fancier effects are meaningless without one. Good stuff with max pain and the zeropunctuation animation bit though.

    Critical Video Reviews

This isn't all that critical but it's done with some class and some jokes (I haven't looked at many of theirs) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBqB5LUKh8A (cue comments about no one being able to understand them)

Gaming is too expensive... in Australia.

This is precisely the situation with film as well. You might have heard the term for the big blockbuster that carries the studio over the dozens that lose or barely break even: tent pole picture.

Gaming is too expensive... in Australia.

When this happens customs usually becomes more vigilant in the application of import duties and so forth. I don't know where games fit into the goods laws exactly but people might want to be careful of getting stung bringing in too many games at a time. And anyway, globalisation is only really...
