and I didn't get to play it until I was in college. It is by far the single most complete experience I could ask for in the game and its ending is possibly one of the most well composed, well directed endings ever and it was for SNES. Complex battle system, wonderful music...
Its a real shame people do this. Watching a lets play is nowhere near the same as playing the game. Now if you do play it, you'll know everything that happens. Its like reading a script before watching a movie - you spoil everything that makes it worthwhile.

EDIT: Well I guess not so much, but those choices do take a huge consequence sometimes. Sometimes resulting in characters/features completely disappearing, or dying.

I'd say this game is the first one to really make me a "gamer." I was the kid who had a super nintendo but only played it for mario and zelda (which are both games worth mentioning, but don't define me). DOOM opened me up to the idea of 3d worlds that could be explored by means of gaming...
