On a console, FF: Crisis Core (if you can call the PSP a console... "handheld" I guess?). On the PC (which I don't normally use), Sims 2.

Grandia III. I had never played the series before, but I picked up this game to rent because it looked good. I think I got an hour into the game before I had to stop, the bad graphics were giving me a headache and the plot was boring.

My favourite is Final Fantasy VIII, I think. Crisis Core also has a neat little bit at the end after all the credits, but I won't spoil it for those who haven't beaten it yet. ;)
