Yes, they do. But only if they're backed up by a written review. i'd never judge a game on score alone, but the overall review can put me off a game.

I agree entirely OP. And as for Spore, there is no way anyone can say 'I pirated it because of DRM', DRM is only there because people pirated games in the first place. No-one pirated Spore to make a point against DRM, they pirated because they wanted to play it, and didn't want to pay. EA not...

I think the problem is that you wanted a different game, something more like KoTOR where you can 'choose your path' and all that. It was designed to be a fun game to mess around on with a (reportedly) good storyline and there's no way multiplayer would have worked... Not that I'm gonna buy...

Valve must have been approached to sell loads of times by now, and they haven't. They're not about to sell up to Google, who have no previous history in games and just want Steam.
