Escapist Podcast - Science and Tech: 026: Halloween Spooktacular: Scary Science

Thanks for the really extensive discussion of my question regarding Daylight Saving Time. To put it into context: Whilst most modern operating systems can deal with DST changes without issue, it is partly the interconnectivity through the Internet, and update servers and software relying on...

Escapist Podcast - Tabletop: 018: Turning Video Games into Roleplaying Games

I had already tweeted about my current project to Jon Bolding. I am busy working on a conversion of The Elder Scrolls for Fate Core (and eventually Fate Accelerated) with the help of the Fate System Toolkit. I found a partial conversion under the title "Scrolls of Fate", but was missing some of...

[Tabletop] History Check - Your first table-top role-playing game

As long as you are all having fun, it is not so much 'wrong' as 'house rules'. Just because the rulebooks for an RPG say you have to do it one way, doesn't mean you can not decide and agree on another way with your friends. :)

[Tabletop] History Check - Your first table-top role-playing game

Not sure I would classify "Monopoly" as a role-playing game ... but then again, it would all depend on how much you channelled your inner Gordon Gekko!

[Tabletop] History Check - Your first table-top role-playing game

I am currently playing a D&D 4e and a Fate Core campaign with friends from the UK and Finland using Roll20 [http://roll20.net/] and Google Hangouts. I have also used Fantasy Grounds [http://www.fantasygrounds.com/] (Steam [http://store.steampowered.com/app/252690/]) for table-top games over...

[Tabletop] History Check - Your first table-top role-playing game

With the Spiel 2014 Expo [http://www.merz-verlag-en.com/index.html] starting this week (Oct. 16th-19th, 2014) I am revisiting my role-playing book collection before I hit the "bargain" bins at the Expo. Of course this is also the time for fond and less fond memories of the various game systems...

[Tabletop] Is this the right forum for tabletop game discussions?

The topic says it all. Is the Gaming Discussion forum the right forum to discuss tabletop and role-playing games, or should this be done in Off-Topic - or even a separate forum?

Worst disappointment you experinced when you were a kid.

I had started to use my Commodore 64, my first computer and gaming system, to also do work for school. Beyond the keyboard that was part of the main unit, I used a joystick to play games, or in this case to move the arrow cursor through the GEOS (the C-64 equivalent of Windows) environment. It...

Enjoying the New and Expanded Escapist Magazine

My increased enjoyment of the Escapist also comes from the increased coverage of tabletop games, science & technology and related topics compared to a more sparse coverage beforehand. The fact that there are now dedicated Senior Editors for these areas is really encouraging. The fact that this...

Enjoying the New and Expanded Escapist Magazine

A few months have passed since the Escapist expanded the site with new sections and design, and I wanted to take a brief moment to express how much I am enjoying the changes and additions. I have grown especially fond of the Tabletop and Science & Technology sections (in addition to Video...

    I'm getting a PS3, recommend me games

Whilst not a game as such, I have drawn a lot of enjoyment and value from the Playstation Plus subscription. With a few games every month, I have picked up a few titles I might not have looked at closer if I had to spend the money on them. A few of the games from your list, bartholen, are...
