MMOs are a very unique genre. They even defy the concept of a video game to an extent.

Well, I would look at it as meaning that someone out there has enough authority to make people admins of the internet. My first goal would be to investigate that. My second goal would to strive for internet equality wherein enterprising groups weren't disadvantaged.

It's not weird at all. It just means you're online at the same time. Now, if it's repeatedly instantaneous regardless of the day or time, then I'd say it says more about the individual than of how weird the situation is.
