I don't really think that you can call the earlier versions of Batman "popular". Not in today's commercialised world anyway. But perhaps they were. It's not as if you could say the word "batman" 20 years ago and people WOULDN'T know what you were talking about....
Is it just me, or has BATMAN suddenly become chic? I mean, has Batman ALWAYS been this popular (and I was somehow oblivious) or does it have something to do with the release of Batman Begins and the Dark Knight?
