I would just consider that startling. In my opinion for something to be "scary" it has to have some atmosphere, and build up some tension. Now lets say it was a dark night you were out of torches, low on food and health and running for your life to get back to your home before all the monsters...

The only real complaint I have about them is that they don't drop the block they're holding when you kill them.

Or just leave them as they are. Because nothing about minecraft will ever be scary, because its not meant to scare you. The Endermen are fine they way they are. If you want to fight more challenging monsters go to the Nether. OR If you really want to change something, learn how to do some...
