    Zero Punctuation: Dead Island

I may be a minority, but I'm enjoying the game. I came in with low expectations and was surprised with a lot of different parts of the game. Sure it's buggy and there are some questionable respawns, but it is very atmospheric. I think all the knee jerk reactions are a bit harsh, especially since...

Can the phrase "so bad it's good" really apply to a game?

    Two words: Deadly Premonition.

penny arcade equates used games to piracy

There is nothing wrong with the Used Game market. Especially when it comes to games that are hardly worth their $60 price tag ("Modern Warfare 2" and "Halo ODST" for example).

InstantAction CEO Says Retailers "Horribly Abuse" the Industry

"On the surface, the Parasite expects the doctor to heal them for free, the farmer to feed them out of charity. How little they differ from the pervert who prowls the streets, looking for a victim he can ravish for his grotesque amusement." - Andrew Ryan Sorry, couldn't help myself.

    Playstation 3, another lost feature.

Seriously. I think people are getting too wound up over this.

Deadly Premonition (aka Rainy Woods, aka Twin Peaks)

Hello everyone, My very first thread (long time poster) here on the Escapist and hopefully it hasn't been done already (I didn't find it on a site search, so here we go!). I just picked up this Xbox 360 survival horror game today (it's a budget title, $20) and it's an absolute scream. The...

    dantes inferno

I'm really enjoying Dante's Inferno. Despite the gameplay being derivative, I give the game credit for its high aesthetic value. A lot of people whine about the title being such an affront to the original source (something I find humorous), which I don't think is fair because it's not a straight...

    Escapists and limited/special/collector's edition games

I find myself getting the SE of the more recent games (the exception being the PS remakes of Lunar 1 and 2, which only came in awesome SE packages for the price of a regular PS game). I've picked up CE's for Batman Arkham Asylum, GTA4, Fallout 3, BioShock and Mass Effect 2. They may be...

What kind of Guitar Hero/Rock Band/Spin-off would you like to see?

The "Guitar Hero: Guitar Hero" joke is hilariously brilliant. Kudos! I wouldn't mind seeing a "Rock Band: Weird Al" edition :P

    Next Game You're Buying

My pre-order for Mass Effect just went through, so the the next game I'll be getting is Dante's Inferno (then Heavy Rain, then Mafia II, then God of War II...oy, too many games!)

Assassins Creed III to Include online multiplayer

I think this is a silly idea spawned from the ongoing notion that in order for a game to be "good" it has to have multiplayer. I wonder if its going to be anything like BioShock 2 (at least they are trying to integrate it with the main story), where it's this weird little anomaly that raises...

Whats the most scary game you ever played and why?

Definitely the first Silent Hill game. After getting through the sewer section of the game, I couldn't sleep with the lights off for a couple days.

    Most Underrated Video Game Music

I've been listening to the soundtrack for the Ghouls 'n Ghosts a lot lately which has a bunch of fantastic music. Don't know if I'd like to hear it remixed, unless if it were done by the Tanguy Ukelele Orchestra guy (http://www.miniclash.com/tuo/)

Recommend me some good adventure games...

If you go to GOG.com, you can get a few adventure games for cheap and they are compatible with Vista. While Steam offers a larger selection of "classic" adventure games, I've heard that they aren't as Vista-ready as the GOG games, which means you'll want to run them with SCUMMVM. But yeah...
