I'm with you Weakgeek. I feel like the whole genre of Fantasy needs to take a step back and look at itself and its prevalent tropes, especially in the armour department.

My body will be used as bait for a polar bear race. The winner gets to eat me, and then it is killed and carved up for dinner. The guests aren't told about that part until desert.

It's the job of the Author to creat a set of rules for this fantasy world and convey these to the audience so they can properly understand the significance of the events on screen, not to just make it up as they go along.
