In terms of cartridge cost, I think the wholesale cost will actually be quite low. If I could get a 64GB micro SD card for $15 at a retailer, then wholesale, it must be cheaper than that. From the few stills from the reveal video, the cartridges look very similar to DS/3DS cartridges...

Since micro-SD cards are now upwards of 100GB in storage, having a DS-like cartridge won't hold the console back in terms of storage.

I grew up with them, left Nintendo in college, and then picked it back up grad school, and got a Wii U when it was like a year old. I currently am looking forward to the NX more than PS or XB because I have a PC that isn't shit and at least I can expect true exclusives on Nintendo systems...

It worked on NES cartridges for sure. Although a cotton swab usually worked better and you could actually see if there was corrosion on the game contacts. The NES wasn't great about getting it's contacts aligned though. Reinserting it probably did as much as the blowing.

What CaitSeith said. A portable/home console hybrid. My guesses include some type of dock that adds additional processing for HD for TV and probably 720p controller touchscreen. Also it's pretty credible that it will use cartridges. My guess is something like large SD cards or DS/3DS...
