I like NG+, but it doesn't always work. Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter's new game+ did it best in my opinion. On the subsequent runs through the game, it has new and expanded scenes that you didn't see the first time.

To me, multiplayer is only as good as the people that you play with. If it's my with friends, then I like multiplayer. However, since we all have busy lives, my vote goes to singleplayer, because I can have a great experience by myself.
