Even though it's not terribly kid friendly, The Venture Brothers is always a good watch. If you didn't/don't tear up at the end up the first season, you actually have no soul.

That's a rather perplexing statement, as ICP make music as well. if you want METAL, listen to some Behemoth. They're the band Slipknot wishes they were. Behemoth are balls too man. Ditch their silly nonsense and listen to some Incantation.

It might have been a bad example, but it gets my point across. I've had just about everyone recommend me Avatar. It looks pretty close to anime. Hence why I've stayed away from it.
