Only if by "Western" you mean "North American". A lot of people think the age of consent as being 18, because that's what it is in California (i.e. Hollywood). In fact, in the U.S. the age of consent is 16-18. It's 16 in Canada. In most European countries, it's 14-16.

The cynic in me says that this is a cheap ploy to get people to watch the movie again. You know, to see if it still holds up when you know the twist.
