If you're like me, you don't necessarily grab up novels and comics set in the universe of a game franchise that you like. More often than not, they come across like bad fan-fic or needlessly explain away things you loved in the games. And they rarely tie in with the actual continuity of a title or series.

Well, Mass Effect being a universe where every detail affects every other, it seems that the spin-off material actually DOES play a role in the events of the upcoming Mass Effect 3 (slated for a March 2012 release). Fortunately for us, Lucas Siegel over at Newsarama has put together a list of "10 Things Mass Effect fans MUST know from Novels and Comics."

Read on, if you dare. Admittedly, some of this sounds pretty damn cool...

Not terribly spoilerific, but they'll be addressing things that you won't really have a context for until you at least start Mass Effect 2...

Regards, I am a pretty big hater of spoilers. I've simply stopped reading books and never picked them up again because people have asked "Are you up to the bit where guy x meets guy z?".

So I will probably just wait until I'm playing ME2 to read them.
