Being Gone Gonzo used to be cool when the only person with 1000 posts was Purple Rain. Now half of the people are Gonzo and the other half hate them because of it. I hope they bring out more titles so us double Gonzo's can show how much cooler we are then all you single Gonzo's and being a plain Gone Gonzo stops being such a big deal.

I know this is hideously off topic, but that avatar rocks, Gavo. xD And no, I am NOT trying to up my post count. Here, I'll prove it to you by expressing a meaningful opinion!

This is, in my opinion, like using a cheat device to beat a game without actually trying first. Sure, it may be fun and rewarding to YOU at the time, but it undermines the efforts and accomplishment of many others who reached that point by working toward it.

Hmmm I suppose you could do all of those trivial little activities just so you can see a number go up, but I am going for something a little more meaningful. I want to get at least 1000 posts that are only meaningful thoughts that contribute something good to the conversation (like this one), or are well written displays of my writing talent in the form of the RPs I participate in (the majority of my posts). I figure that at about 1300 posts I will have achieved this goal due the numbers of simple replies to threads and OOC posts in RPs.

Well actually I do want more titles but not from achieving high post counts. I think there should be specific titles that award good behavior and performing memorable/impressive things. Say someone that makes good RP's be given "Dungeon master" as a title or Iron Ninja being given "Comic Creator Extraordinaire" for his work on that Escapist comic that he used to do. You could be given "Holly Man" for bringing us Holly. Good behavior and memorable threads/posts encouraged through a title is a lot better than encouraging post whoring through a title.

So you're saying less of a new post count titles, and more like more special titles that the mods give out by hand? That would be nice.

That's not a bad idea, that's not a bad idea at all!

Probably a pain in the arse to police and award these things without having members resent the hell out of each other (i.e- why don't I get a special title? *whine*). That being said I would like the title of 'Crazy Java Man' or possibly something related to making staplers sexy again.

If titles are to be handed out by the staff then it should be done in a similar way to how Bungie handles giving out Recon Armor. Anyone that does something noteworthy (making a popular Halo Machinima for example) they are given Recon Armor as an award but if they ask "Can I Haz Recon" they are put on a list that stops them from ever having Recon. Ever! If in the guidelines it says "Asking for an individual title will result in you never being given an individual title." Then there shouldn't be to much of people asking for a cool title and people genuinely trying to earn it.

I think it'll be a cool feature, encourages good things from us.
