Hello my fellow escapists. Wired magazine just produced an article listing the "100 Quotes Every Geek Should Know," and it's pretty thorough (http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2010/01/100-quotes-every-geek-should-know/). But I was disappointed not to see one of my personal favorites; Admiral Akbar's famous "It's a trap!"

But maybe that's not notable enough. Take a look at the list and let me know what you think should have been included (or just post your quote here, I'm not trying to make you read Wired) - I'm curious to see if you agree with their picks.

Can't believe that there wasn't a single Mystery Science Theatre 3000 line. Actually you can make a 500 Quotes list from MST3000 and still leave buckets of lines out.

Not even the most famous video game line ever...All your Base are belong to us.

Bah...fail list is fail. Should be renamed "100 quotes every movie/Tv show Geek should Know..and a couple of book and comic books too."

They have Wash's last lines, and one from the Big Lebowski, so I would say it's a pretty good list. I think they should have the last lines from The Fog "Why not six Blake, why not me?"

Some of them are decidedly meh, for example, I wouldn't call "Alright, alright, alright" a notable quote.
I also find it's lack of Red Dwarf disturbing, so a couple I would have added:
"Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast." Ace Rimmer
"Space Corps directive 34124? No officer with false teeth should attempt oral sex in zero gravity?" Kryten
"Everybody's dead, Dave." Holly

"In order to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe." Carl Sagan
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. " Carl Sagan
"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." Albert Einstein
?Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.? Albert Einstein

I didn't see "It's a weapon. Its really powerful! Especially against living things!" I'm disappointed.

EDIT: and "I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?"

You would be happy to know then that last night playing LOTRO a random player did use that line. Went something like this.

Random player 1 "We should go get some calamari"
Me "Can we make it Mon Calamari?"
Random player 2 "It's a trap!"
