Postal2- braindead fun when I just want to bash some asshole's head with the shovel

The first Mass Effect- that was action RPG, not shooter with few upgradable abilities.
And I really liked MAKO :(

Crysis 2, which I consider to be a genuinely good game, and Fear 2, which is my personal go-to dumb junk food shooter.

For Crysis 2 it might just be that I never played Crysis 1, so I didn't have any particular expectations to be let down by going into it. All I really wanted from Crysis 2 was invisibility powers, super jumps, and Richard Morgan's awesome sci-fi writing skills, and I got all three of those things, so I was happy with it.

As for Fear 2, I actually did play Fear 1, so it's not a case of not having expectations and more a case of the game just not being quite as bad compared to it's predecessor as people make it out to be. It's not like it abandoned being scary or anything, since Fear 1 wasn't scary either. It's kind of hard to feel genuinely vulnerable and terrified when you're dual-wielding pistols and doing sweet slo-mo jump kicks all over the place. And Fear 2's plot might be silly, but Fear 1 had a silly plot too, it was just told in a way that made it seem more compelling than it actually was. Fear 2 is a lot more honest about how stupid it is, and I can respect it for that. I also respect it for the way enemies explode into satisfying piles of mangled kidneys when I toss grenades at them.

Here are my black sheep. They aren't part of established franchises, but they're considered weird one-offs from their developers and publishers:

Nier
Great characters and story, interesting world, fun easter eggs from all over the history of Japanese gaming, nice if also rather basic graphics and gameplay. Fantastic soundtrack!

Hunted: The Demon's Forge
Great characters and art, interesting ideas, stumbles a bit in the mechanical execution. Personally, I think one of its biggest weaknesses is that it could support a lot more narrative content, and it just doesn't have it. It's a relatively straightforward actioner, but it could have easily been made into an rpg.

Mirror's Edge
I don't have any complaints about the gameplay, characters, or basic idea. The plot holes irritate me, but I ignore them. I also love the fact that the design team deliberately made combat a "defensive" exercise. You can't murder your way through the game very effectively because that's not what it's about: yes, it's first-person, but it's not really a first-person shooter.

Loved splinter cell conviction, though it probably helped that I never played a prior splinter cell game.

Also the crysis 2 campaign. Sure it's not as open, but what it lacks in sandbox it makes up in fantastic pacing.

Dragon Age 2 (as people have already said) - I hated it at first, then when back a few months later and it grew on me.

Xenosaga I and II - People said Episode 1 was too heavy handed with the cutscenes. While I can see their arguement, I don't agree. I loved all the cutscenes (even bought a dvd with all of them compiled). I was really upset with the way Ep. 3 handled cutscenes (cutting out the FMV portions and putting in text bubbles and such).

While I agree Episode II was definitely the weakest of the series gameplay wise, I absolutely loved it's story. The whole Junior/Albedo story was amazing.

SWTOR - Yea, EA/Bioware screwed this game up big time, but I still enjoy it for it what is(a single player experience, not as an MMO).

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts.

While it didn't really feel like a Banjo Kazooie game, and even butchered it in some aspects, it was still fun and I enjoyed it. I honestly feel like it's quite underrated and hated simply because of the two characters on the cover.
Kinda agree.

I LOVE the original Banjo Kazooie games. And for what this game was, I still had fun with it. (The final boss was pretty damn hard though I'll admit.)

OT: While I don't like it as much as Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 3.

I was introduced to the Fallout series by this game. And I had fun with it. For some reason a lot of Fallout fans. (Namely the No Mutants Allowed community) treat this game like crap. One guy even claimed that this was the worst game ever made.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not some blind Fallout 3/NV fanboy. I played the original two Fallout games and enjoyed them. So I can see why they would prefer those over the newer games.

Still though, I don't think Fallout 3 is as bad as a lot of people say it is.

That'll probably have to do for now beyond saying that AC: Revelations is better than Brotherhood by a long shot and that AC2 is still the best entry in the series.

There all classic's, as they star Ezio.... the interesting one!
(I'm not at all bias!)

OT I really enjoy Mercenaries 2
It's my go to game when I just want to blow something up!
Ezio: the one with a personality and not just anger and/or naive vengefulness!
Ezio: The one with more than two emotions! (And a wonderful singing voice!)
Not to mention Ezio was actually in charge and understood the need to put revenge on the back burner for more important things. Oh and more actual assassinations, better mission design, better environmental design, etc...
Ezio The one with the best supporting cast Ezio best pals with Leonardo

Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon.

I liked how ambitious it was, the fact you could co-op with another player, the art direction, and the villain was the most fitting for Spyro of any villain he's ever gone up against. A lot of people skipped over it sadly and then Skylanders happened.

Also, congratulations on 1000.

I liked Bioshock 2. I mean, it wasn't nearly as great as the first one, but I still enjoyed it quite a lot.

Ditto. I was incredibly surprised myself, since I generally get pissed off when they dumb down RPGs, but I never actually liked Origins that much anyway, while this game just clicked with me somehow.

In some respects, I guess it's wrong to call this a Black Sheep, but I actually think the first Diablo is the best game in the franchise. Everyone always acts as if it's just a stepping stone to Diablo II, because of multiplayer yada yada, but I don't care about multiplayer. The descent into hell in the first game just had a way cooler, somehow dark and truly oppressive atmosphere, that truly made me dread the denizens of hell which lurked in those twisting, gloomy corridors. It felt closer in spirit to the modern Souls games than the loot-obsessed frenzy spawned by its sequel.

I've noticed a few people say it, so I don't fear for my life anymore. Dragon Age II, I really enjoyed it. Not as good as Origins, but still pretty damn good. Oh, and for those who would look at my profile pic and judge me as a fanboy, it's just a cool picture. Oh, and Final Fantasy is shit and always will be.

FEED ME YOUR HATE, I THRIVE UPON IT!!

Majora's Mask and Luigi's Mansion would be my main two.

I've always loved black sheep games. Sometimes, it's nice to step away from the norm and try something new.

The Blacksheep of the final fantasy franchise it has a very cult following and only thing people remember about this game is the "gunblade" Squall uses
damn ninjas...

OT:due to preemptive strikes from ninjas, I have to say Black and White 2. I actually found it kinda fun planning out cities and then building them.
