The real question here is...who watches their friend have a Wii Remote shoved up his ass by an angry drunk, and doesn't do a damn thing about it?
Scared kids.

Glad to see the corrective rape patrol is out in full force. Unequivocally disgusting.

That's just what this thread needs. Thank you!

Really. What happened is basically this: An unpleasant person did something unpleasant to another unpleasant person. This is of course unfortunate for both parties, but I'm sure there's no need for the rest of us to act drop-dead serious about it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to read the Kotaku article while listening to Yakety Sax!
Right, all levels of unpleasantness are the same. Charles Manson is no worse than the guy talking on his cell phone during a movie.

(That said, I'm not going to say someone needs to be completely serious about it.)

What I want to know is were the kids playing on the Wii at the time or did the 26-year-old just really want to use the Wii remote for some abstract and probably disturbing reason?

I can't believe people are actually defending the rapist! Rape is never, ever okay, and an adult shouldn't get mad at some kids being kids. In this day and age spouting off is simply normal, and if everyone would go off the handles every time a kid disrespected them society would crumble. This is simply despicable.

Having said that, mouthy pre-teens need to know when to shut the hell up and have some respect for their elders. Hopefully this is a lesson for everyone.
What a truely disgusting sentiment; first and foremost, there is NOTHING the kid could have said that warrents being RAPED.
The point, I think, wasn't that he deserved to be raped, but that minors need to learn that them being protected by the law doesn't protect them from everyone. Fuck with an adult, and they might just fuck you back.
Yes, good; hopefully this young boy has learned that being obnoxious can get him RAPED WITH A WIIMOTE AT A SLUMBER PARTY BY AN ADULT. :/

There is no lesson to learn here; just unfathomable cruelty.

Wow, the Wii-mote really is a shitty controller.

All kidding aside, rape is way to far to go. Yelling at the kid or taking the kid over his knee would have been fine but this is ridiculous. There is never any reason to rape.

One juvenile and a 19-year-old broke into Kraig Stockard barn in Delhi, Calif., on Sept. 12 and stole 50 CD-Rs, which Stockard later reported stolen.

"I'm kind of surprised that he wanted to draw attention to himself, knowing what was taken," Deputy Tom McKenzie of the Merced County Sheriff's Department told Fox40.

When the pair took the CDs home to burn music, they discovered that more than 30 of them contained child porn.

They reported the contents of the discs to the sheriff?s department.

The two people that found the pornography were not arrested for the burglary.

You are right that people shouldn't be defending the rapist. However, I don't agree with the rest of your post. Adults should get mad when kids act like spoiled, rude brats. People turning the other cheek is how kids got so bad in the first place. How are kids supposed to learn what is and is not acceptable behavior if adult just blow off any bad behavior? Kids push their limits to see how far they can be pushed and adults are who should enforce the limits.

Get mad? Fine, you have every right to, feelings are only human. Scream at them? Fine, they did it to you. A good old fashioned spanking? If you feel the need to, I don't see the downside. But to rape a child over it?? That is absolutely inexcusable!

I remember being a kid. We didn't call adults "******* ****," "****-head" or "stupid ****," we didn't bite them hard enough to draw blood, we didn't set houses on fire, we didn't wreck cars and we didn't think we were entitled to do and take whatever we wanted and get away with everything. This website's staff seem to feel that none of us should call others here "******* ****," "****-head" or "stupid ****," either. Years ago, people calling other people offensive names was simply normal [https://jaynaylor.com/betterdays/archives/2005/10/chapter-13-thic-7.html], and there have been a lot of changes since then. Whether society has crumbled is open to debate, but if it has I really doubt it's because we stopped that. I'm sure you could find plenty of people who're afraid society will crumble if we don't stop ... erm ... this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3tlPgLPdV8&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL0BBAE5B03972127A].

Yeah, there's nothing quite like a good sexual assault to set a 12-year-old straight.

As a summer camp counselor, I've dealt with way more than my fair share of snot-nosed brats, but raping one for any reason is just inexcusable. Heck, if you aren't the parents, I think hitting/beating/spanking them crosses the line. You don't generally get physical with adults who make you mad so why is that okay with kids?

However, as others have pointed out, this article has a whiff of bullshit to it. I really doubt a 12 year old could have this done to him and not have some serious damage, or at least yelled loud enough to wake the parents. But who knows?

I think you misunderstood me. The society crumbling part was me saying that if more people would do this then pretty much half of all kids in the western world would get raped. I'd call that a crumbling society.
As for the second part, I don't think an adult should get mad at kids. They should discipline them, but to get mad is another thing. That said, if you do get mad there's nothing wrong with that. There is however something wrong with rape. Do you get my point?

Interesting story but I supposed there is more to it than actually said or written.

Anyway, I do sympathize with the boy in any possible way but still - reading this made feel better. Because now I finally know that there are more crazy people running around and I'm probably just mostly harmless...

As terrifying and sickening as that was, my first thought on the situation was "Oh shit, shitstorm inbound."

ITT: People blaming the child for instigating, people blaming the adult for not being responsible, people saying both were at fault, and finally, people saying either side was awesome for different reasons.
Yep, you've summed it up quite nicely.

And it's posts like this that remind me of why I really hate certain elements of gamer culture. We get it, it's annoying when little kids go online and start shouting obscenities -- but it's not anywhere near as annoying as when a grown man does it. I've seen kids doing it once or twice. Adults do it all the freakin' time. Also, when it involves kids, I've had good success getting them to calm down because I'm an adult, a pre-service teacher, and I know how to get kids to listen to me. Seriously, all you guys whining about screaming pre-teens are just proving that you have no idea how to handle kids, or that you are kids yourselves. It's not /that/ difficult.

Wishing horrible things on kids because their parents are absent and you aren't mature enough to handle the situation? Yeah, that reflects well on both you and gamers as a whole[footnote]That was sarcasm, in case it wasn't clear enough.[/footnote].
Enlighten me (asking in complete earnetst) How do you handle screaming kids threatening to skull fuck your mom and yelling other incoherent obscenities at you through a mic?

Seems like even if you speak calmly to them they just keep going anyways. Does it take some sort of extra patience?
The last time it happened to me, I honestly just started asking him questions like "does your mother know you talk like that?" If you keep calm enough, it's entirely possible to shame swearing kids into being more civil.
