Yes congratulations you've insulted your mother over the internet, made a derogitory remark and yelled profanity, which has left an unforgivable stain on the insides of my ear drums.
These types of kids, regardless of age or pitch of voice, shouldn't be allowed mic usage.

The sensible ones, who can maturely use their mics should by all means join in with the in-game chatter. To me its a matter of mental age over real age.

Also i'd like to say, if you're one of the kids i described in the 2nd paragraph i urge you to find some heavy traffic to play in.
It isn't reserved for 12 yr olds. Mic jackasses come in all ages, races, nationalities and genders. I would like to ask where the parents are though. Not so much because they annoy me but online adventuring is not always the safest.

Well I usually talk a lot to my friends about enemy positions and movements.

But as my cousins and most mw2 players are pre-teen over-competitive prats, I always keep a recording of "happy happy joy joy" just in case........

Ok i dont want to start a flame war or anything and i would like to clarify that i have nothing against young kids that game but do they really not get that if they dont use a mic no one would know their age.

I used to play BF2 when i was 12 and i never used a mic and no one ever asked me my age, i dont know if they dont realise or just dont care.

Do people realise that without any personal information anyone can be any age on the internet?
The kids that do use the mic just want to yell at someone and not have any real retaliation. Plus its not like the guy on the other end is going to tell the kids mom he said a bad word.

When I play online, console or computer, I never use a mic or headset. Mainly so I don't have to subject myself to the trash talking ego whores out there. But also I have extremely bad hearing and I often mistake what I hear in conversations and hearing voices all coming through the same speaker slightly distorted would make it even worse.

If it's not "little" or I like to call them Immature acting kids online it's "Xbox Live Thugs" that I can't stand. So I use the all mighty power of the mute button but I got to admit it's funny to hear them bannter on or attack each other.

Alittle OT: I'm sorry but I gotta post this....case in point refer to the video...

Whats really bad is most of us that have experienced such know this is actually rather mild in nature compared to what goes on too. Also this makes me think it would be funny as hell if some ranter on a game was arguing with the computer from Portal.

I play with a mic, but it's usually off as I'm fairly sure my fellow gamers don't want to hear me repeatedly mutter "Oh fuck" every time the bullets start whizzing past my head, or the sound of my hair brushing against the damn thing.

Moreover, I don't usually have much to say when I'm waving ordnance at people, hehe.

I can find Kids with mics very easy to loath. Often when I hear a kid on voice it's on a game that the law says they shouldn't even be playing and practically every time they say something they either hit the precise note of irritation with the pitch of their voice that makes me want to hunt them down and empty my battle rifle into their head or they take their daily dip into Bernard Manning's Bumper Book of Racism and Homophobia.

I'll be honest, I tend to take it easy with online games, but this is coming from a 16 year old guy. Even when I was 12, I thought online gaming was a fun little diversion to the single player storyline which I thought (and still think) is the overall meat and potatoes of a game. When I grew up and gained access to a headset when I bought a 360, i didn't care enough to use it unless I was playing with friends.

12 year old kids happen to be a bit more INVOLVED in the game more than anything. They take the game so seriously they end up sounding like a bunch of twats. IT'S JUST A FUCKING GAME PEOPLE. I don't get pissed when I get beaten in say... Halo 3. I just kick back and say, "great game". If only everyone did this more often. More people would enjoy the game instead of *****.

Oh by the way, before I go, I leave you with this.

I'm thankfull that these *hrm* minor gamers doesn't bother me since I residient on rather obscure games on the rather obscure gaming plattform, known as the "PC". They normally don't find me on my home servers but when they do, my God they get flamed just because their voices hasn't cracked yet.

They ultimately leave and me and the rest of crew can keep talking foul-mouthed crap all night long.

Lol I started playing halo 3 when I was 12. But the thing is my voice is very low and I always sound 3-4 years older than I really am. Plus i like to see myself as a bit more mature than most 12 year old boys in the fact that I don't go around and scream profanities at anyone who kills me. Instead I just kill them back. In fact I used to chew out other 12 year olds and younger to shut the fuck up. I still do actually. It's the little annoying kids who give gamers a bad name.
*EDIT* I'm 15!

Meh well if they're not being screaming shitheads I don't care what age they are.

And don't think 12 year olds are the only ones who do that. Some adults are even worse than them.

This is one of the worst things with mic conversations. My friend lost that little furry cap for his 360 mic (i still strongly believe he ate it.) He is the heaviest breather i'd ever met.
The sound of a man breathing heavily down your neck creeps me out beyond words.

I aggree with the 'mental age' thing.

Also i think push button talk should be compulsary as it:
a. makes it harder to talk and
b. you dont hear people breathing into their headset which is really creepy.
this. mental age is all that it should be about

this is also why i use to love socom 2 online, you had to use the circle button to talk, which wasn't a big deal, and you could see who was talking and boot them if they were being annoying or spammin the mic with dumbass music or something
