Hmmmm, I wonder what is worse having sex at that age or posting pictures?

If you think it's posting pictures, why?
If you think it's having sex, why?

But think about this, do they arrest under age teens with kids? Because with age of consent where it is and them being pregnant, doesn't that also mean they broke the law?

But, you say the age limit is to defend the younger people, surely this and the father at 11(was it?) prove that the laws need to be changed slightly, not just to protect them, but to stop them.

This is wrong (original post) but, I think a larger issue needs to be addressed here

Considering the oversexualization the media puts out, its to be expected. We are living in the age of sex, drugs, and guns, these are the things currently driving our society.

Where I live, she'd have had a kid or two by now, and people would have labeled that 'normal.' Maybe even 'she's doing good for herself. Only two kids at that age.'

I can't second the italicized text, but yeah, you're right.

The laws of age of consent really apply only to older people sleeping with younger. And even if they do apply, it has certainly been ignored up to this point.

I think they're both pretty bad. The one has all the biological problems, and the preggers, but the other is basically a call to pedophiles everywhere, which is something we don't need.

It's funny that Myspace aren't being called into question. Do they not have filters like other social networking sites to block this sort of thing from happening?
I have a feeling this happens all the damn time. I'm sure they found it in time.

I think she's a little fuckwit if she did that without thinking of the consequences, but I hope this keeps happening (not because i like kid porn, I think it's sick) and they shut myspace and other social networking sites down because I hate them with the fiery fury of a supernova.

wow, prosecuted for staring in child porn, does this mean that if some pedo went and molested some kid, the kid would be in the shit when the police came knocking?
No, because that's clearly child abuse.

I think the reason she was charged with distribution of child porn was (aside from the obvious technicality that she did) that they didn't have a better charge for her. Kids at that age are going to experiment sexually and socially, usually intermingling the two to some extent. You can't really stop it; at that age kids are finding their identities and are so doused in hormones that to limit things too much would stunt their growths as individuals. However, I think that there is something fundamentally demeaning about sending naked photos to yourself of anyone, even within a relationship (I can understand a long-distance or long-term relationship, but not one of these "omg wev been 2gethor 4 2 weeks" things). While you may gain something in the short term, it comes at the expense of your integrity, and I think in most cases, what the other person in the transaction gains will outweigh yours. Teens are by and large unable to understand the long-term, significant consequences of their actions, and while there are of course exceptions, I do think that we need to have some sort of regulation in place to prevent this stuff - not necessarily for the sake of protection from potential predators, but for developing a strong sense of self-worth for these kids that will follow them later in life.

It´s a pretty fucked up place you grew up in, if you don´t mind me saying, but somehow that is starting to seem quite normal all about, sadly. Really sad part is, that kids have actually learned this kind of behaviour so easily. The values they are getting, mainly through media, are fucked up. It might do some good to adopt more strict policy against events like this (what the authorities actually can do, I don´t know), but as conservative as it sounds, the education begins at home. Only problem is that parents today don´t seem to be as well versed in concepts like the internet and instant messaging as their kids are. At least this is how the situation appears to me.

it's nothing new - girls have been doing that underage for years - she just had the bad luck to get caught
She was stupid to put them on the internet. Frankly, she's an idiot. You KNOW you're underage, you shouldn't be taking naked photo's of yourself, and if you are: Don't post them on myspace.

She deserves whatever she gets really, i mean if your 14 and publishing naked photos of yourself you are indeed a f*cking idiot and she deserves to be punished for acting in such a dumb way.

Same principle as a drunk driver who's never done it before, and decides to try it out one night, he deserves everything he gets because its really freaking stupid.
Oi, talk about two entirely DIFFERENT examples there.

First one impacts the girl and whoever sees the picture, and isn't LIFE THREATENING.

Second one impacts the driver and everyone who he runs over/runs into. Drunk driving is life threatening.

I understand your disgust, but dude, use better analogies. Seriously.

Although not strictly my neighborhood, 15 mins down the A1 from where I used to live was a town called Stevenage. Was the same there, alot of teenage pregnancy and underage sex. It seems to be spreading in the UK these days, but why?

Well, I´m glad you avoided a horrendous demise. It would have been a fate worse than death. It´s good you found your way here; Together we can hold the infected at bay.

Oh this pisses me off actually.
I mean, yea, you probably shouldn't be doing that.

But it's also child porn if you send someone naked pictures of yourself.

Personally if you send your friend a picture because you want them to see...things...you should be allowed to. Course I wouldn't because here in the US IT'S ALL ROUTED THROUGH THE NSA & SAVED.
Damn them and their Patriot Act and Teraflop computer.
Bastards

*waits for the government to kidnap him*
And of course, they never have to tell anyone, THANKS PATRIOT ACT!

She knew what she was doing. If a guy took naked pictures of himself, he would be sentenced without a second thought. DEATH PENALTY TO HER!

Well, I think she should be at least scolded and made to take down teh pics and all of that. But making her a sex offender at age 14? Well, her life is now fucked it seems! I think the action is a bit odd...

It is quite simple really. Only allow users of social networking sites to upload images or video when they are over 21.

Even if it is a 14 year old girl who has taken some entirely innocuous pictures of trees.

It would also help stop "happy slapping" and "dumb death-dare stunts" for the benefit of YouTube.

Parents should have to have enough I.T. knowledge to have Parental Controls and age restriction turned on. However, this is hard, so...

There is also a responsibility on the part of OS vendors, like Microsoft and Apple, to ship their systems with Parental Controls turned on, so that an adult of the household who (for whatever dubious reason) wants to have unrestricted access to the whole Internet, needs to have sufficient I.T. knowledge to set up a separate, password-protected, user account with the Parental Controls disabled, etc.
