TL;DR
During halloween event, a certain street section in Itaewon (popular tourist spot in Seoul) became overcrowded. This section was in a slope, and eye-witnesses said they saw someone in the middle fell over, causing other people to topple over like domino. The number of deaths and injured are expected to rise

I've been on a full dance floor a couple of times. Nothing compared to something like this, but a crowd pushing you around is a helpless feeling. As a side note it's ridiculous how half of a news article on a mass accident like this can be compiled Twitter responses from politicians (not the CNN article, but the Finnish source I read a moment ago). If I want to read "thoughts and prayers" on Twitter I'll go look for them, ty.

Okay lets be realistic. Stupid happens.

Take in Zionist Israel they have various religious public gatherings ( actually they have two events for two different religions from my understanding ) and a similar thing occur. My opinion is that people just need to before more careful.

Halloween in my opinion is not a reason for anybody to die in a stamped and further makes it problematic.

The world as a whole needs better crowd control, and flow. There is a reason at well-run events this almost never happens.

Horrible news. This is sad.
Why is sad? I am sure North Korea is having ball at this incident. Not only did those "American Bastards" advised South Democratic supporters to eliminate pro communists they also adopted these things called holidays where mass mutilation and suicide occurs. I mean it is like "Suicide Club" or "Toxic Avenger part 4"all over again when you think about it.

What I do not understand while the world adopts Halloween, Fireworks, Canga-lines, thanksgiving, Easter, and or Christmas why don't they adopt Purim, or the Harvest Festival?

Yep. Even people who doesn't like NK is saying this wouldn't have happened if Halloween wasn't adopted.

In fact, SK has been adopting A LOT of both good and bad cultural influences from US. It's certainly creating a discourse between what's old/traditional vs new/trend, and dividing old generation with the new. As someone who was born in the 90s, it's tough to take a stand.

You note, " Halloween in my opinion is not a reason for anybody to die in a stamped and further makes it problematic. "
Agreed.
That people died in an accident is sad. I think they would prefer that they had not died. Their surviving family likely concurs.

This, and that football riot recently, really makes you think just how inconceivable such a number like 146 is when deaths are concerned. Horrifying.

Modern historians thin this was a big factor in the French defeat at Crecy, the French charge into English arrows turned into a stampede. It still seems bizarre how you can kill so many people this way, though.

I'm kinda surprise bot don't try to defend themselves as non bots, maybe cause people would give it simple challenge that it would quickly fail?

More details;
This was the first halloween event since the beginning of covid, so people got too excited

There was zero prior work done on crowd control and safety.

Just before the stampede started, screams were heard. But no one paid any attention because they were too drunk, mistook the screams to those of excitement, or simply didn’t care and continued to dance away to the club music

Fire dept and police did arrive, but again no one was willing to cooperate. When one of the fire fighters was performing CPR, people decided to take our their phone and record instead of clearing the way.

Even the veteran fire fighters and police were traumatized seeing mass number of dead and injured.

At this time, the count has been changes to 151 dead and 80 injured. 30 of the injured are in ICU

I've been in a crowd crush once. Absolutely terrifying. Only time I genuinely feared for my life.

I hope the injured get well soon.

Everyone who thinks people didn't just evolve from animals needs to see this story. Absolutely primitive and horrifying.

Also man, those Japanese trains that you have to be pushed in by official train-pushers so the doors will close are like, playing with death every day.

I would say "SIGH", all caps, but I'll hold judgement on this, there's also some people in the way, that doesn't mean no one was willing to cooperate. Hell, the ones that got the hell out when they saw what was going on aren't being seen hanging around in the way.
