Loved the "glorious" themes in Bayonetta when fighting grotesque angels, so I'm glad you included that [small](Also the Bayonetta version of Fly Me to the Moon is better than Frank Sinatra's. Suck it, crooner fans.)[/small].

That said, nothing from the Persona series? Nothing from the Baldur's Gate series? Bah!

If you want to link something Phoenix Wright related, link this one:
Gooooood gods that gives me an ear-orgasm...

Also, as much as I enjoy the Half-Life games, I really don't think the music is that spectacular. Probably my favorite is Vortal Combat from Episode 2, but I probably wouldn't put that anywhere in the top 15.

I'd be more inclined to put this one in:
Plays during some of the most adrenaline pumping moments.

And most people would be hard pressed to remember that most Bethesda games even have an OST, much less one worth remembering.
I was like that too, until I really started paying attention to it. Then I noticed how incredibly well it flows with the game, like it just slots in and becomes an indistinguishable part of a whole. It really does enhance the atmosphere.

I would definitely add Metal Gear Solid and Jet Set Radio to that list, but I agree with about half of it.

Feels good man.

Regarding Half-Life 1&2 (+eps), it's very odd. I've heard songs from the soundtrack either by opening them from the game files or on Youtube, but I can only barely remember hearing them in-game.

I still think Clint Mansell won't be able to top the ME2 music and the ME3 soundtrack will be cold, bleak and harsh sounding in comparison.

Nice list there, I like a lot of the stuff on it.

That version of the Halo theme is hideous though.
Yeah, "The End Run", "Suicide Mission", and "Crash Landing" really made ME2's last mission exciting. I don't see ME3 topping it.
OP: No Pokemon? That series defined my childhood so maybe I'm a little biased.

Seriously though, most of these were pretty good. (And I wouldn't pick the battle music from FFXIII either but whatever)
Completely and thoroughly ninja'd.

Any top video game soundtrack list lacking Chrono Cross immediately loses credibility.

This.

Also, Guilty [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9X1Ta1jN8E&feature=related] freaking [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJcXNDk-5F8] Gear [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oS_TJAMKmF0&feature=related]. Songs chosen at random from the list - pretty much anything from the GG X/XX repertoire gets high marks, some of course better than others.

THAAAAAANK you.

And recently, Ghost Trick by the same guys. Even the calm, brooding tracks of that game are addicting to me.

What, no love for Yamaoka!?

I can't imagine why...

(In all seriousness, the Silent Hill soundtrack is my favorite.)

Don't really agree with the list, but then it's all solid music and music more than anything else really is a matter of personal taste. Couple of other suggestions in this topic have been fantastic as well: Beyond Good & Evil, Icewind Dale 2, Age of Conan, much of Inon Zur's music as well as Jeremy Soule's stuff, etc.

Still, of all the game soundtrack I've listened to lately, World of Goo of all games was probably the one which packed the most punch. Partly because I really wasn't expecting such a stellar and unique soundtrack from an indie puzzle game, but also just because it's so damned good.

If this song doesn't make your heart sing at least a little for example, you're dead on the inside.

I expect major well known composers with full orchestra support and a massive budget to produce solid music. But when one guy makes the music and does it so spectacularly, that's worth celebrating all the more.

A few respectable choices there, definitely, though I can't say I agree with all of them. In honesty, it would be nearly impossible for me to pick my top 15 favourites from all of gaming, but follow are a few that I'd certainly consider for the list (in no particular order):

Of course, there are certainly many, many more tracks from games that I've enjoyed, but those are just the ones that spring to mind at the moment.

You picked persona songs, so I forgive the human race for not immediately linking something from the blazblue soundtrack.

For shame, I am disappointed in everyone else. So very much so.

FF7 - I'd say the best songs out of it's OST were the ones redone by fans and The Black Mages.

REALLY surprised you don't have any SMT games or FF8 on this list.

Ah, good choices here. The Red Alert 3 one especially was a good one.

I still do prefer the original Hell March from the first Red Alert

Also, no Metal Gear Solid? Well, your list and your opinion :)
Howewer I would like to add this here. It is my favorite game song at the moment

4: Halo - Martin O'Donnell is hands down of the most, if not the most talented sound person in gaming today. There is almost no more recognizable audio than that of the Halo games, and it's due to him.

6: Mass Effect - Mass Effect is an epic game, made more epic by the music. Its pretty much just perfect whenever you need it to be.

10: Half-Life - The Half-Life universe has some interesting music. And A lot of it is quite good.
My personal favorites for these series:

4: Long Night of Solace (just everything about this... you might remember it from Jorge's major part)

6: Suicide Mission

10: Re: Your Brains (Left 4 Dead 2)
