Starting your tirade with sarcasm is a really effective way of getting your point across, kudos on that one.

I cited the source, so I really am struggling to take anything you lobby at me about plagiarism seriously. Do you honestly think I would be stupid enough to post an article here with my name on it if I had claimed to write the whole thing despite quoting a source? Seriously, look at the bottom of the article. It is a dofollow link and everything.

As for the "plugging" you speak of, pageviews mean nothing to me. I see no personal benefit from a few extra clicks from jaded forum trawlers. I was just trying to start a conversation.

I'll accept that I didn't add anything new to the "article", and that's my bad. It is shitty journalism and I would make excuses, but they would probably just add fuel to your fire.

Hey, I've got nothing to better to do today, so let's have fun:
Your pop culture poster mashup article? Done better at Chive. http://thechive.com/2015/02/03/the-2nd-annual-riptcademy-awards-posters-are-awesome-12-hq-photos/
10 Pop culture icons that could have looked differently - done better and longer, once again, at http://thechive.com/2013/04/30/early-concept-art-for-a-few-popular-movies-33-photos/
Wow, that office clutter article is 2.5 times longer at Chive - http://thechive.com/2015/01/11/these-offices-definitely-need-some-work-25-photos/
And your films that will be 10 years old in 2015? Again, done twice as long at the Chive. http://thechive.com/2014/12/17/30-movies-that-will-turn-20-years-old-in-2015-30-photos/

Those were just four from your latest written articles, and I'm assuming all other numbered lists were taken from the Chive as well. Great writing there, bud.

Considering you're the Editor of your website, I'd have hoped to see some BASIC form of quality additions. Especially considering other authors on your site write better original articles, and with better content. Your coworkers deserve better. I'd say do a basic google search next time for sources, but it seems that's your writing method.

Shaq-Fu isn't that bad.
It's no Street fighter or Mortal Kombat but the animation is decent, the controls are responsive enough and it can be entertaining for a brief period of time.
People bash it because it's a fighting game based around Shaq.

Oh Robert, you're going to pointless lengths to play up to a moot point, bud.

That third one you quoted there, well boy, those are just ones that I gone done myself. If you had read properly, theChive article is films that will be twenty years old, mine was 10.

As for the others, these are all "articles" which have been aggregated from other websites apart from theChive and across many others. They are more than likely not the original source of any of those but I have placed the relevant source anyway. As I have a full-time job to contend with, I am not ashamed to say that I can't get behind the keyboard and write something worthy of Rolling Stone every evening.

Your comment about my editorial standards is a little irritating, considering you've sniped just four out of the almost 1000 articles I have posted in my tenure. If you had actually taken the time to look at some of them properly, you would know that they are original in the majority, but I'm not going to link them here.

If you have a real issue with me posting this here, myself or my articles, please just report this thread and let's move on with our lives. Maybe we can be best friends (pretty please?).

Shaming me for aggregating a Chive post is beautifully ironic considering how much those guys steal without giving any credit whatsoever: http://imgur.com/a/lvqZk

And so we're clear, I never claimed to have written the whole thing or the basis, just the opening copy and the removal of some other games that didn't warrant being included on the list.

Content aggregation is a huge part of modern journalism. The Escapist do it:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139742-John-Wick-Movie-Franchise-Lionsgate-Keanu-Reeves (source: Variety)

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139835-PS4-Outsells-Xbox-One-Again-in-January-2015 (source: VG247)

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/139833-Hasbro-Unveils-Star-Wars-Themed-Furby (source: Mashable)

Those were just three from the homepage.
You didn't aggregate anything. You took their images, removed their descriptions (Good job removing the one thing that adds any value to it) and posted it as if it was your own.

This;

Seriously, they teach how to properly write an article with cited sources in middle school.
EDIT: Also, in regards to your comment about the Chive, stealing from a thief doesn't make it less stolen.
You can bet your ass were going to shame you. You are obviously sorely in need of it, since you don't appear to have any capability of shame of your own.

Oh, we will. You though? Well, I'd say your credibility as any kind of writer is shot.

Because you did not aggregate. You stole.

Good going.

okay, i've kept myself mostly out of this fight, besides pointing out obvious irony, but now i'm invested. I'm reminded of "Ocean Marketting" (sic). if you don't remember, it was a case where one guy said and did something incredibly stupid and instead of eating his humble pie, he argued it out. i started reading this thread and was in support of you. at first, i thought there was hope for you, you admitted it wasn't your best piece of journalism. then you systematically argued your way deeper and deeper into a hole.

and here's some free advice for your professional future, in calling someone out for something, don't do that same thing yourself. even if you did mean it in an ironic "see what i did thar" way, it comes across as unprofessional, unintelligent and not the least bit thought out. and i honestly don't even think you meant it in that way, it was just an easy out for another stupid move.

the whole thing culminates in you begging to be friends "(please?)" same as with Paul Christoforo and Penny Arcade. and, just like in that case, it's too late, the damage is done and you don't come across as a professional or a journalist, but as a copy-paster with no original ideas and no self control and all to eager to bicker. ever wonder why yahtzee doesn't troll his video comments arguing with his detractors? because, believe it or not, he's kinda professional.

EDIT: in trying to find Paul Christoforo's name, I rediscovered the joy that was that fiasco. re-reading the article now. so, although you brought nothing new or of interest to the community, i still found a way to squeeze some joy out of this thing. so... thanks?

How do you steal images that didn't belong to the people that first posted them either? Would it have helped to use different images from the games? Yeah, most likely.

I highly doubt his credibility as a writer is shot. People can make amends and fix their mistakes.

Edit: Going back and re-reading it at the bottom of the second page he sources The Chive. Is it possible that everyone hating on him merely missed it?

On Topic: Luckily I have had the good fortune in never playing any of these games. I will admit I was afraid that Alpha Protocol was going to be on the list. Thankfully it wasn't.

This pack mentality is really working for you guys.

For the umpteenth time, I cited the sources. What are you failing to see about that? Buzzfeed do it, Mashable do it; almost any large entertainment website you can think of will. There are thousands upon thousands of websites out there that do this exact same thing.

You didn't cite a source.

You copied a source.

You took someone else's material (Doesn't matter who) and lazily hacked it together into something you could claim as your own. In fact, you made the article worse in doing so. That's pretty amazing.

Your article would be better if it was literally just the link to the other article.

I've been baited into a debate and lost my head a bit and acted a bit like a dog trying to chew its own foot off. I don't deal well with criticism and especially when I think I've done nothing wrong though I patently have. It's a big reason why I try to limit my forum use.

Sorry about the irony thing, I can honestly say that I was trying to make a joke but there's no way I can convince you otherwise haha. My professional mindset was left at the 9-5 it seems. I deserve your critique, and this is only gone to sound disingenuous, but thanks.

thank you. no seriously, and not in a "oh good, this jerk's gonna shut up." way, but in a "thank you for taking the advice." kinda way. i understand, as a writer myself (though not as a journalist), that criticism can be hard to handle. but there are a few things to note. 1. putting yourself in public will ALWAYS draw criticism. even the most popular artists, writers, bloggers, etc. have their detractors. and even in the trolliest of posts, there can be learned just the slightest bit about how you may improve as a writer. and i think there's even a level of subterfuge in taking a person's hateful comment and making yourself better from it. you turned their negative shit into your positive change. as much as they hated you, they helped you. you have to find that satisfaction. and 2. i kinda think you kinda knew this might happen. you apologized for the low quality, meaning you knew it was inferior. so the criticism shouldn't have been a surprise. you're obviously motivated, interested in contributing to the community, and have some experience. that's half the battle there. and really, had you made your own comments on each, a brief snarky synopsis, the list could have been copypasted but we would have appreciated it more because you lent your voice to it.

and lastly, i get it dude, i've been tired, pissed about other things, and said some shit i wish i hadn't, ESPECIALLY on the internet. there's not a person in this thread who hasn't done the same. nobody here will hate you for all time because of what's happened here.

I own 2 out of those 15, not gonna say which ones though, I'd like to keep my dignity.

Still have to finish one of those two, I've never not completed a game I bought and I don't intend to let that particular one beat me.

Right, guys. I have taken the deserved criticism onboard and have now edited the piece to be more original: http://culturedvultures.com/15-worst-video-games-ever-made. I know that your opinion of me is tarnished but I hope this goes a little way to mending it.

Sorry for any contention or immaturity on my part during this thread, I lost my head a little bit but would still like to be a part of this community.

I've seen, but never played, any and all of those games. And I'd say I feel good for doing so...

But Sonic 2006 is nowhere on this list, so I'm confused. Side-stepping EVERYTHING outside of gameplay; it's barely functional as a game at all. Shaq-fu is not worse than Sonic 06.
