Good point. You didn't need to either. What compelled you?
Well, he initially questioned your need to post if you're not going to read the review, and then commented on the review and the film itself. That would be, I wager, what "compelled" him.

For the record -- and this is for everyone -- you didn't get, and won't get, any mod wrath despite you stating that you didn't read the review. The reason for this is that you still commented on the film itself, which is one of the two requirements for the "Responding to Posts" section of the <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.284840-User-Reviews-Forum-Rules>User Review Forum Rules. Since it's an or, and not an and, you're technically in the clear in terms or rules. It's still not ideal, because we'd hope that you'd read the review if you're going to comment (it allows for a better discussion, and avoids situations like the one we have here) but it's not against the rules to just talk about the topic that is being reviewed.

But look how much discussion I've prompted.
It's too bad people focus on only the negative aspect of my post. No one says, "Well what did you like about the movie?"

Good review matt Im looking forward to seeing this movie....some day.

But oh well Im just gonna have to stick to this Amazing Aliens rap till I see the movie.
That is awesome on so many levels.

I love this film, especially the Special Edition. Easily my favourite in the series. Pacing good, some decent characterisation, plus kickass action and lines. This has all been ruined by Alien: Resurrection however. I really liked Alien 3 in parts, the atmosphere was very dark and bleak, and you can't go wrong with an awesome black preacher...guy. It is irritating that they took the characterisation of Ripley, when she fights her fear head on to save her "daughter", and killed it, off fucking screen just because they didn't write her or Hicks into the goddamn film.

Really good review btw, well structured and informative.

Marter already explained your initial question better than I could've, but here's the discussion you caused:

...yeah, not a very good idea to say that, especially when the reviewer is a Mod :p
Then why'd you come into the Review Section if you're not going to read the reviews!?
Doesn't mean you need to post. Jesus Christ...
...and a repost of the rules.

So basically, people telling you not to post that.

It's too bad people focus on only the negative aspect of my post. No one says, "Well what did you like about the movie?"
See... I'd say your original post was almost low-content, then. You should explain why you liked the movie there. In any other instance where you hadn't said 'This review sucks, TL;DR' first, saying 'I liked the movie' would've stuck you with that.
Not every post should be an essay. If I made this post on the second page, no one would have batted an eye.
And I'm not in charge with how people choose to react to my posts. I'm expressing myself, not trying to fill the needs of people who read my posts. If I cared to, I'd make a new thread.
I've seen the movie. I don't need to see a review. The review is supposed to tell people what it's about. You don't buy, play, finish a game then look at reviews to see other peoples opinions.
I suspect the reviews are intended for people who have NOT seen the movie and probably SHOULD.
Or am I mistaken?
Is this review intended for criticism but the movie is merely the pawn in that fact? I'm thinking not.

No, and not every 'good' post is. But more than 3 relevant words?
3 words that are relevant is better than 1000 words that aren't.

You sure about that? How often do you come into this section?
I mentioned this. Is was in the most recently posted section. I use this to find random topics of interest.

You... kind of are. Posts are there for everyone to see, post something bad, and you'll get a bad reaction.
My post is also a reply. If people are influenced by MY post, I must be influenced by the OP.
I'm no more at fault.

SO WHY DID YOU LOOK AT A REVIEW?!
Um...
Actually... yes, I do.
You look at reviews of something you already know but just a moment ago asked my why I do the same thing?
I thought the review would be more appealing as I'm accustomed to other reviews sites reviews and this one didn't live up to that. So I skipped the entire thing.

This goes further than the rules. It's common courtesy.
Common, not required etiquette or it would be a rule.
If you've seen the movie, it's best to express your opinion further than 'I liked it'.
Edit button. Maybe I WILL give an alternative opinion worth reading.
How common courtesy will it be if I just review the same movie? I'm thinking it wouldn't be.
Choices... choices...
